A major chapter in heavy metal history has come to a close as King Diamond announces the departure of longtime guitarist Andy La Rocque after 40 incredible years, while also revealing the arrival of guitar virtuoso Gus G. as his successor.
The announcements came simultaneously, with King Diamond sharing a heartfelt message on social media honoring Andy La Rocque's four decades of contributions to the band, while Metal Blade Records officially announced that Gus G. has joined the King Diamond lineup moving forward.
In the band's statement regarding Andy La Rocque, King Diamond wrote:
"After 40 years King Diamond the band and Andy La Rocque have mutually decided to part ways.
Looking back, we do so with nothing but pride, gratitude, and respect for everything we have achieved together.
All the countless memories we have created along the way are forever.
Our friendship and respect for each other will always remain the same, and we all sincerely wish each other the absolute best for the future!"
The band also made it clear that Andy La Rocque's impact on King Diamond and heavy metal will never be forgotten. His unmistakable guitar work, songwriting contributions, and dedication helped shape some of the most iconic albums in the genre.
At the same time, King Diamond welcomed Gus G. into the band, beginning a new era for one of metal's most legendary acts.
Known for his work with Firewind and his years as Ozzy Osbourne's lead guitarist, Gus G. will now compose, record, and tour with King Diamond moving forward.
"It's a Big Honor for me to Welcome Gus G. as our new guitarist," said King Diamond. "Gus will still continue with all his current projects, FIREWIND, Solo Project etc. No restrictions, just careful planning.
