UK Power/Progressive Metal Force Expands Its Cinematic Universe on New Full-Length Release Out July 17, 2026

The UK based power/progressive metal band The Spectre Beneath returns with their newest studio album The Devil’s Whisper , set for release on July 17, 2026. Blending razor sharp musicianship, cinematic storytelling, and emotionally charged vocals, the band continues to push a sound shaped by classic influence and modern ambition.

Drawing inspiration from giants like Megadeth , Savatage , Queensrÿche , and the theatrical edge of Iron Maiden , The Spectre Beneath fuse progressive complexity with melodic weight and narrative depth.

A BAND SHAPED BY EVOLUTION AND ENDURANCE


The Spectre Beneath began in 2018 when guitarist Pete Worrall and longtime collaborator Katy Lennon began developing material that leaned more melodic and cinematic than their previous work in Plague and the Decay. What started as a side idea quickly evolved into a full creative identity.

With drummer Consta Taylor joining the fold and vocalist L.L bringing a unique, nontraditional phrasing style, the band released The Downfall of Judith King in 2019, followed by The New Identity of Sidney Stone in 2020, later reissued via WormHoleDeath Records. Both releases earned critical praise for their ambitious storytelling and genre fusion.

After L.L stepped away in 2021 due to health reasons, the band faced uncertainty but continued forward, later recruiting vocalist Nicole Garza for 2023’s The Ashen Child . By 2024, lineup changes once again left the future unclear until a renewed creative spark arrived in early 2026, reigniting the project.

THE DEVIL’S WHISPER EXPANDS THE STORY


The Devil’s Whisper connects directly to earlier chapters in the band’s narrative, continuing themes introduced in The Downfall of Judith King and The Ashen Child . Tracks like “The Devil’s Whisper” and “Forgiveness” carry forward the unfolding saga, while other songs explore cinematic influences including Hammer Horror inspired storytelling with “Sister Hyde” and “The Man Who Could Cheat Death.”

The band also nods to television drama influence with the melancholic “White Tulip,” adding emotional depth to an already expansive record.

Across the album, The Spectre Beneath refine their signature blend of soaring vocals, intricate guitar work, and dramatic progressive arrangements that balance melody with intensity.

Emerging from the frozen forests of Northern Michigan, Mothertomb are preparing to unveil their debut full-length album, Dying to Live , arriving July 14, 2026 . Blending the crushing weight of traditional doom metal with the hypnotic textures of stoner rock, heavy psych, gothic atmosphere, sludge, and progressive songwriting, the independent quartet delivers a powerful first statement that is as emotionally haunting as it is sonically devastating.

For fans of Black Sabbath, Windhand, Pentagram, Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, and Acid King , Dying to Live presents five expansive compositions exploring themes of suffering, transformation, transcendence, and the eternal struggle between darkness and light. Inspired by Welsh folklore and the shadowed depths of the human psyche, the album journeys through allegorical landscapes populated by ancient spirits, inner demons, and the unseen forces that shape the human condition.

The band's name itself was born from tragedy. During Northern Michigan's historic ice storm of April 2025, widespread devastation left more than 145,000 residents without power for weeks in below-freezing temperatures. Witnessing the forests encased in thick ice, simultaneously breathtaking and catastrophic, the members found themselves staring into what felt like Mother Nature's own tomb. That surreal duality of beauty and destruction became the inspiration for the name Mothertomb , perfectly reflecting the emotional and sonic contrasts that define their music.

"Set for release on July 14, 2026, Dying to Live is Mothertomb's debut full-length album. Across its five tracks, the record explores themes of transformation, suffering, transcendence, and the timeless struggle between darkness and light. Drawing inspiration from Welsh folklore and the shadowed corners of the human psyche, the songs traverse landscapes inhabited by ancient spirits, inner demons, and the forces that shape the human condition.

The album unfolds through layers of metaphor, allegory, and introspection, inviting listeners into a world where darkness and illumination coexist. From brutal heaviness to moments of eerie beauty, Dying to Live is a journey through the depths of the human experience.

Long before the album's release, Mothertomb began earning widespread praise throughout the underground metal community with the singles "Beware" and "Mountain Hag."

Blending the raw urgency of 1980s and 1990s underground punk with the crushing weight of modern stoner rock and doom metal, Temple Witch has carved out a sound that feels distinct within their regional scene. Their music balances towering riffs with emotional honesty, creating immersive songs that unfold like journeys through isolation, struggle, and catharsis.

Doomherre contribute Blood Relics of Old , a slow-burning descent through plague-ridden imagery and ancient weight. The track moves with deliberate force, circling themes of pursuit, excavation, and inevitability, digging into what has been buried and refusing to look away from what resurfaces. It follows the path of a forgotten figure with nowhere left to run, anchored in classic doom tradition with zero excess and no shortcuts.

Austin, Texas death metal outfit Lord Gryphus have emerged from the underground with their debut full-length album Summoning the King of Death , set for release on July 17, 2026 . Built on the foundations of early 90s extreme metal, the band delivers a raw, ritual-driven sound that blends crushing aggression with oppressive atmosphere and a deep reverence for death.

Channeling the spirit of genre pioneers like Morbid Angel , Gorefest , Sepultura , Grave , Autopsy , Incantation , and Sinister , Lord Gryphus forge a sound rooted in primitive death metal execution, atmosphere, and confrontation.

The band operates as a three-piece anonymous unit, all masked, drawing from deep roots in the extreme metal underground. Their identity and concept revolve around execution, sacrifice, and ritual devotion to a carrion deity known as Lord Gryphus, inspired by Vultur gryphus , the Andean condor, a symbol tied to death, transcendence, and spiritual power.

Lyrically and thematically, the band confronts colonial violence, cultural erasure, and imposed religion, while honoring ancestral traditions and forgotten histories. The result is a release that is as ideological as it is sonic, built around ritual, resistance, and death as a force of reverence rather than fear.

Summoning the King of Death was recorded at Red Nova Ranch in Bastrop, Texas with Jeff Henson handling tracking, reamping, guitars, and bass. Vocals were recorded and produced by Kike Valderrama at Buziraco's Lair Studio. The album was mixed and mastered by Andrés Mauricio Gallón at Sound Blast Studios in Armenia, Colombia.

The record includes a cover of Troops of Doom originally by Sepultura, along with guest vocals from Reese Alavi (Creeping Death) and a guitar solo by Mike De León (Flesh Hoarder / Soulfly), adding further weight to its underground impact.

Lord Gryphus will also appear alongside legendary death metal veterans Internal Suffering on select dates of their 30th Anniversary North American tour this July, bringing their ceremonial style of devastation to stages across the southern United States.

Italian melodic death metal project Pradhe has officially released its latest full-length album, Six Times , available now on Bandcamp and YouTube , with streaming services to follow once distribution quality assurance is complete.

Founded in 2022 by multi-instrumentalist Matteo Nunziati , Pradhe is a one-man metal project rooted in melodic death metal while embracing elements of progressive metal, gothic doom, and atmospheric songwriting. Every instrument, vocal performance, programmed drum track, mix, and master on Six Times was crafted entirely by Nunziati, resulting in a deeply personal and uncompromising artistic statement.

While listeners may hear echoes of Insomnium, Opeth, and Dark Tranquillity, Pradhe also draws inspiration from the melancholic atmospheres of Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride. The result is a sound that balances memorable melodies, progressive arrangements, crushing heaviness, and emotional depth.

Reflecting on the creative process behind the album, Nunziati explains:

"Surely the most free of constraints I've done ever. Everything can be metal with the right attitude and guitar amplifier."

Rather than telling one continuous story, Six Times explores the darker realities of modern society through individual snapshots of human behavior. The lyrics confront the erosion of empathy, the pursuit of power, and the everyday decisions that reveal humanity's capacity for cruelty.

Musically, the album embraces diversity without abandoning its melodic death metal foundation. Blistering riffs and aggressive passages give way to progressive detours, haunting atmospheres, and doom-infused moments that blur the boundaries between multiple styles of heavy music. Throughout the record, Pradhe remains guided by the belief that metal has no creative limitations when driven by strong songwriting.

Adding another layer of authenticity, the album's cover artwork incorporates a wartime manifest from Belgium. Ambient sounds featured in "Over My Cold Ashes" were created by kyles , with original source credits available through the band's official website.
