Austin, Texas death metal outfit Lord Gryphus have unleashed a new music video for “Troops of Doom,” a devastating bonus track from their debut full-length album Summoning the King of Death , released July 17, 2026.

The track delivers Lord Gryphus’ ferocious take on one of extreme metal’s most influential early anthems, originally written and performed by Sepultura for their legendary 1986 debut album Morbid Visions . Staying true to the raw aggression and primitive energy of the original, Lord Gryphus transform the classic track through their own ritualistic and uncompromising death metal vision.

The cover features guest appearances from Reese Alavi of Creeping Death on vocals and Mike De León (Flesh Hoarder / Soulfly) with a blistering guest guitar solo, adding further intensity to this tribute to one of metal’s foundational moments.

The accompanying video brings the concept of Summoning the King of Death to life, following the album’s ritualistic themes as Reese Alavi and Mike De León are summoned through flames before the video transitions into a live performance from Lord Gryphus, capturing the band’s raw energy and ceremonial atmosphere.

“Troops of Doom” represents a salute to the pioneers who helped define extreme metal while honoring the underground spirit that continues to drive the genre forward.

Formed as an anonymous masked three-piece, Lord Gryphus channel the darkness and aggression of classic death metal while building their own mythology around execution, sacrifice, and devotion to the carrion deity Lord Gryphus, inspired by Vultur gryphus , the Andean condor and a symbol connected to death, transcendence, and spiritual power.

Their debut album Summoning the King of Death delivers a crushing blend of old-school death metal brutality, oppressive atmosphere, and ritualistic intensity. Drawing influence from legendary acts including Morbid Angel, Gorefest, Sepultura, Grave, Autopsy, Incantation, and Sinister , the band creates a sound rooted in the savage spirit of the early extreme metal underground.

Costa Rica – CDN Records is proud to announce the addition of Costa Rican death metal duo Mausolent to its growing roster of extreme underground acts. Bringing forth a filthy, crushing tribute to the golden era of Swedish death metal, Mausolent channels the raw aggression, chainsaw guitar tones, and unrelenting darkness that defined the early ’90s death metal movement.

The duo recently unleashed their debut demo, “Stench of Death,” a savage introduction to their sound and a clear statement of intent. Built around the legendary HM-2 guitar tone and inspired by the pioneers of Swedish death metal, Mausolent pays homage to the likes of Entombed, God Macabre, Macabre End, Nihilist, Traumatic, Dismember, Crematory, and Authorized while forging their own path through the underground.

Formed from an idea that began in late 2019, Mausolent finally took shape in 2026 with the release of their first demo. The project was created with one goal in mind: to honor the spirit of classic death metal while keeping the raw and uncompromising attitude that made the genre legendary.

The band’s journey was anything but straightforward. After the initial concept was developed, Mausolent was revived in December 2024 when Diego Ballar and Tomas Campos decided to continue building upon their original vision. After months of writing and rehearsing, the duo explored expanding the lineup with additional members, but ultimately realized the music was best represented by the two musicians alone.

In 2025, Mausolent returned with renewed focus and recorded “Stench of Death” entirely as a duo. The result is a grim and aggressive release that captures the essence of old-school death metal while embracing the underground spirit that has kept the genre alive for decades.

Mausolent is currently working on new material, including an upcoming EP and their first physical releases through CDN Records. Both the demo and future releases will be available digitally and physically.

Stockholm, Sweden – After nearly seventeen years of evolution, setbacks, and renewed determination, Swedish heavy metal force Jonestown have finally released their long-awaited debut full-length album, Promise of Enlightenment , available now independently through Bandcamp and all major streaming platforms.

Formed in 2009, Jonestown’s debut is the culmination of years of songwriting, growth, and perseverance. The album features nine original compositions alongside two unexpected cover selections: the Ramones classic “Wart Hog” and Nirvana’s “Breed.” Clocking in at approximately 75 minutes, Promise of Enlightenment is an ambitious statement that showcases the band’s ability to merge crushing thrash aggression, traditional heavy metal songwriting, progressive arrangements, and melodic vocal delivery.

The album was recorded at Studio for Nations in Stockholm , produced by bassist Linus Larsén , with co-production and sound engineering by Daniel Jedrzejewski . The record was mixed and mastered in Warsaw by Sebastian Has , known for his extensive work with Polish extreme metal legends Behemoth.

Lyrically, Promise of Enlightenment explores themes of religious fanaticism, geopolitical conflict, war, and horror, delivering a thought-provoking backdrop to the band’s dynamic and technically driven compositions.

“The album gave us the chance to show the width of our influences and capabilities, and it let every band member shine in different aspects,” says vocalist and guitarist Einar Svensson . “It was never really in doubt that these nine songs should end up on our first album.”

Bassist and backing vocalist Linus Larsén adds:

“The basic structure of all songs has probably been around since at least 2013. But performance-wise, I think the difference after the reunion is big, to the better, luckily.”

Jonestown’s lineup features Einar Svensson (vocals, guitar, keys), Jacob Zetterberg (lead guitar), Linus Larsén (bass, backing vocals), and Johan Hambring (drums, backing vocals) . The current lineup represents a reunion of four of the band’s original members, who returned in the early 2020s with a renewed focus on bringing their long-developed material to life.

The band’s ambition and musicianship have already earned praise from Swedish metal media. Sweden Rock Magazine awarded the album high marks, with Jonas Wettmark describing Promise of Enlightenment as:

The underground metal scene is constantly evolving, and some of the most exciting new bands are the ones willing to push boundaries, embrace creativity, and do things their own way. Montreal, Quebec's BITTER is one of those bands.

Recently, The Zach Moonshine Show welcomed Yan Chatel (Bass & Backing Vocals) and Kilian Langlois-Chatel (Lead Vocals) of BITTER for a conversation about the band's formation, their upcoming Slamosaurus Rex EP, their signing with CDN Records , and their mission to bring crushing beatdown deathcore to the masses.

Building BITTER From The Ground Up

Formed in 2024, BITTER has quickly started making waves with their massive blend of slam, beatdown, and deathcore influences. While the band may be relatively new, the passion and experience behind the project run deep.

For Yan Chatel, BITTER represents a chance to finally build something completely authentic.

Working in the video game industry for years made it difficult to dedicate the necessary time to music, but as life changed, the opportunity came to invest more energy into creating something heavy. That journey became even more meaningful when his son, Kilian, became involved and developed his own passion for extreme vocals.

What started as a father and son musical connection quickly evolved into a full band with a clear vision.

Slamosaurus Rex and the Rise of BITTER

BITTER's upcoming EP Slamosaurus Rex represents the next major step for the band. Combining brutal breakdowns, massive grooves, and a unique sense of personality, the release showcases a band that is not interested in simply following trends.

The digital release is scheduled for September 1, with physical editions including vinyl and CDs planned as well.

The band decided to invest further into their physical releases, including special vinyl options and unique ideas designed to create a memorable experience for fans.

Formed in December 2024, Bitter is a slamming beatdown deathcore band hailing from Montreal, Lanaudière, and Gatineau, Quebec. The project began as a father-and-son vision between Yan Chatel and Kilian Langlois-Chatel before expanding into a full lineup united by a shared obsession with extreme music and uncompromising heaviness.
