Matt Miller and Band Unveil Playthrough for “Summoned” from Seventh Studio Album “Fiber Tormentum” — Out Now
Technical death metal guitarist Matt Miller has released a full-band playthrough video for “Summoned,” a standout track from his seventh studio album Fiber Tormentum , out now via Exitus Stratagem Records.
The video showcases the technical precision and dynamic chemistry of Miller’s new lineup: Jordan Kelso (drums, synth), Justice Robinett (bass), and Biko Wright (vocals). Together, they deliver a performance that’s as crushing and relentless as it is melodic and epic.
“‘Summoned’ is about the travel and detailed plans of the invaders, using astonishing acts. The music is something like a computer algorithm or an alien language. We wanted the playthrough to capture both the technicality and the storytelling behind the song; it’s overwhelming, but in the best way possible,” says Miller.
Released in September 2025, Fiber Tormentum is Miller’s first full-band album after years as a solo artist. Originally conceived as an instrumental record, it evolved into a full-scale concept album with vocals and contributions from the full lineup. The album tells a loose sci-fi narrative of alien invaders manipulating human DNA, blending technical death metal, power metal, progressive death, and symphonic elements.
“We set out to push ourselves to our best performances and explore all musical possibilities. Fiber Tormentum is ambitious, theatrical, and memorable, blending technical mastery with hook-driven songwriting while retaining a human feel,” Miller explains.
After starting his solo project in 2020 and touring with Rings of Saturn in 2022, Miller assembled a full lineup to bring his vision to life. The band has since toured Europe supporting Possessed and continues to build momentum with intense live performances.
Described in five words: relentless, soaring, crushing, intense, epic, Miller’s music draws influence from Necrophagist, Wintersun, Symphony X, Nevermore, and The Faceless, while forging a unique identity. The album artwork, created by the late Joshua Nassaru Ward (Voraath), depicts a tormented face mid-transformation, reflecting the album’s core theme.
