Virologist Announces EP Release "Ameliorating Vicissitudes" - Out May 18, 2024
Southern California's brutal death metal powerhouse, Virologist, is set to unleash their highly anticipated EP, "Ameliorating Vicissitudes," on May 18, 2024. With roots deeply embedded in the 1990s brutal death metal and slam scenes, Virologist is poised to redefine the genre with their uncompromising technicality and undeniable grit.
Led by guitarist and vocalist Emrys Mellinger (Necrotic Infibulation), Virologist burst onto the scene in July 2023 with their self-produced debut EP, "Promo 2023." Now, the band is ready to take their sound to the next level with "Ameliorating Vicissitudes," their debut release under New Standard Elite (NSE) label.
"Ameliorating Vicissitudes" is a testament to Virologist's dedication to pushing the boundaries of brutal death metal. Propelled by the otherworldly vocals of Daniel Esquivel, the EP features a lineup including Zach Klain (Necrotic Infibulation, Regurgitated Entrails, Submerged) on guitar, Sam Little (Submerged, Regurgitated Entrails, Necrotic Infibulation, Carthus) on bass, and Ethan Shadman (Necrotic Infibulation) on drums.
Described as "thinking person's brutal death metal" by NSE owner Ryan Baker, "Ameliorating Vicissitudes" is a sonic onslaught of complex rhythms, jutting starts & stops, and almost-impossible-to-count beat structures. The EP launches a linear barrage of riffs that never repeat—until the next brutal show!
Virologist's professionalism and commitment to audio excellence are evident throughout "Ameliorating Vicissitudes," with over ten years of combined live performance experience backing their sound. Having shared stages with legends like Dripping and Condemned, the band aims to contribute something new, inspiring, and fortifying to the ever-evolving world of metal.
"Ameliorating Vicissitudes" will be available on CD on May 18, 2024, followed shortly by all streaming platforms. Additionally, the band is already working on a full-length album slated for release by the end of 2024.
