Hopeless Nation Release “My Curse” — New Music Video Out Now

Montreal, QC – June 1, 2026 – Quebec hardcore and metal veterans Hopeless Nation have officially released their new single and music video, "My Curse," available now on all major streaming platforms and YouTube.

Following the band's acclaimed return with "Silverspoon" in 2025 and the cinematic "Disaster" earlier this year, "My Curse" continues Hopeless Nation's resurgence after nearly a decade-long silence. The song explores addiction, self-destruction, and the internal battles that often remain hidden from the outside world.

"My Curse is about the battles people fight in silence. Addiction in all its forms can take control and slowly erase who you are. This song is a confrontation but also a reminder that no one has to face it alone," says vocalist Frédéric Marchand .

A Return Built From the Ground Up

The current chapter of Hopeless Nation began in the summer of 2024 with a high-energy reunion performance that revived material dating back to the band's 2014 era. What started as a celebration of the past quickly evolved into a renewed creative force, leading to a string of new releases and plans for an upcoming EP.

Rooted in Quebec's Hardcore and Metal Scene

The members of Hopeless Nation bring decades of experience from some of Quebec's most respected heavy music projects. Louis-Simon Bellerose is known for his work with hardcore punk veterans Genetic Error, while Steve DC and Guy Provencher represented Canada in Europe after winning the Wacken Battle of the Bands with Strigampire in 2024.

With more than 250 live performances collectively under their belts, the band continues to embody the DIY spirit and dedication that define the hardcore and metal underground.

A Visual Representation of Addiction's Endless Cycle

The "My Curse" music video embraces practical effects over artificial imagery, utilizing projection mapping, minimalist staging, and stroboscopic lighting to create an unsettling visual landscape. Recurring staircases, looping environments, and fragmented projections symbolize the repetitive nature of addiction and the struggle to reclaim control.

The result is an immersive visual experience that reinforces the song's themes without sacrificing the raw authenticity at the core of the band's identity.

Honoring the Past While Moving Forward

"My Curse" also serves as a tribute to former members Jonathan Houle (bass & guitar, 2012–2014, 2024) and Maxime Dupont (rhythm guitar, 1998–2014), whose contributions helped shape the band's foundation and sound.

Produced by Jonathan Houle and mixed and mastered by Francis Perron at Studio RadicArt, the single represents another step toward Hopeless Nation's next chapter and forthcoming EP.
