HÖWLER Drop Ferocious New Single “Rotten Cortex” Ahead of Upcoming Album Beyond Mortal Control
San José, Costa Rica – Thrash metal powerhouse Höwler are back with another crushing preview of their upcoming full-length album Beyond Mortal Control , set for worldwide release on May 8, 2026 via CDN Records.
The band has just unleashed their second single, “Rotten Cortex,” a blistering assault that dives deep into psychological domination and internal corruption. The track explores the idea of a hidden puppeteer, the force lurking within that seizes control and bends reality to its will. Fast, sharp, and absolutely unforgiving, “Rotten Cortex” shows Höwler operating at peak intensity.
Formed in 2009, Höwler have built their name on a no-nonsense blend of old school thrash aggression and surgical precision. Over the years, they’ve dominated stages across Latin America alongside heavy hitters like D.R.I., Whiplash, Angelus Apatrida, Destruction, Destroyer 666, and Malón.
With four full-length albums already under their belt— Back to Madness (2014), Fallen But Not Forgotten (2018), No More Circus (2020), and Descendants of Evil (2022)—the band continues to evolve without losing that raw, neck-snapping edge.
Now reloaded as a tighter, more focused three-piece, Höwler have sharpened their sound into something darker, leaner, and far more dangerous. Beyond Mortal Control is shaping up to be their most aggressive and technically refined release yet, and “Rotten Cortex” is proof they’re not holding anything back.
The album’s artwork was created by acclaimed artist Andrei Bouzikov, with logo and title design handled by MR WOLF, locking in the visual identity of this new era.
