HERETIC’S “SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME” FEATURED BY BLABBERMOUTH
In Case You Missed It: Blabbermouth Spotlighted the Southern California Metal Veterans Ahead of Their New Album’s Release
Los Angeles, CA – August 2026 – Southern California heavy metal veterans HERETIC are celebrating the release of their latest album, Shape Of Things To Come , now available worldwide via Candlepower Records, while taking a moment to highlight a major piece of media coverage that may have flown under the radar.
Ahead of the album's July 24 release, Blabbermouth featured HERETIC and Shape Of Things To Come , shining a spotlight on the band's latest chapter and their continued commitment to classic heavy metal.
In the feature, Blabbermouth described HERETIC's approach as taking the band's songs to new levels with “pure intensity and grit.”
That description is fitting for a band that has been delivering heavy metal since its formation in Los Angeles in 1985.
Founding guitarist and songwriter Brian Korban discussed the inspiration behind Shape Of Things To Come , explaining that he wanted to pay tribute to the classic metal bands and early HERETIC recordings that helped shape the band's identity.
“I made a conscious effort to create songs with a wide spectrum of styles. You will hear thrash, slow songs that end fast, an acoustic ballad and medium-paced power riffs. I couldn't be more pleased with the results.”
The album was produced by Steve Watson at Watson House Studios in Pasadena, California, with the goal of capturing the band's live power while giving the songs the production they deserve.
Watson, who is also a longtime HERETIC fan, offered high praise for the finished record, stating that with Shape Of Things To Come , “HERETIC takes a stand that they are, more than ever, a heavy metal band to be reckoned with.”
Now that Shape Of Things To Come is officially out, HERETIC invites longtime fans and a new generation of metalheads to discover the 12-track album for themselves.
From thrash and power riffs to slower material, an acoustic ballad, and plenty of classic heavy metal fire, Shape Of Things To Come showcases a band embracing its history without simply living in it.

The band has since released A Time Of Crisis (2012) and A Game You Cannot Win (2017), while their legacy was documented in the 2023 film Don't Turn Your Back - The Story Of Heretic .
With Shape Of Things To Come , HERETIC continues that legacy with a record that proves the fire is still burning.
