Italian Alternative Gothic Metal pioneers CAYNE return with their brand-new single “Outcast,” set for release on April 9th, 2026 , marking the first step toward their long-awaited upcoming full-length album arriving later in 2026.
With over two decades of evolution behind them, CAYNE stand as one of the most emotionally charged and cinematic forces in European heavy music. Born from historic ties to the early Lacuna Coil orbit, the band has carved its own identity through tragedy, reinvention, and artistic rebirth.
“Outcast” arrives as both a statement and a mission. Featuring special guest drummer Hugo Ribeiro of Moonspell , the track delivers an explosive rhythmic foundation that pushes CAYNE’s sound into a heavier, more urgent direction without losing their signature emotional depth.
The single blends massive modern guitars, cinematic dark atmospheres, and the unmistakable presence of electric violin, a defining element of the band’s identity. The result is a sound that sits confidently between gothic melancholy and modern alternative metal power, drawing natural comparisons to acts such as Soen and the atmospheric edge of classic European gothic metal.
At its core, “Outcast” is built around a commanding, chant-along chorus that transforms alienation into strength. Rather than leaning into despair, the track flips isolation into unity, becoming an anthem for outsiders who refuse to conform.
This message is deeply rooted in the band’s history. CAYNE’s journey stretches back to their formation following early connections with the Italian gothic metal scene, eventually solidifying through releases like Old Faded Pictures (2001), Cayne (2013), and Beyond The Scars (2018). Their path has been marked by lineup shifts, international tours, and the devastating loss of founding guitarist Claudio Leo in 2013, an event that shaped the emotional core of their later work.
Through all of it, CAYNE evolved. Their sound expanded from gothic rock foundations into a broader cinematic metal language, defined by dynamic songwriting, emotional storytelling, and the electric violin textures of Giovanni Lanfranchi.
“Outcast” continues that evolution, acting as the opening chapter of a new era. It follows the 2026 EP Exuvia , which showcased a stripped and intimate side of the band, and now sets the stage for a heavier and more expansive full-length record expected later in 2026.
The single was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Diego Alessandro Minach at Red Robin Recording Studio in Segrate, Italy , ensuring a powerful yet detailed sonic landscape that captures both weight and atmosphere.
