SHINEDOWN has officially dropped a powerful new single titled "Killing Fields" via Atlantic Records, marking yet another bold chapter in their ever-evolving career. Known for pushing sonic boundaries and connecting deeply with fans, the band once again invites listeners into an emotionally charged soundscape — this time with a haunting slow-burn intro that builds into a thunderous, anthemic chorus.

Lyrically, “Killing Fields” digs into the chaos of modern life with ambiguity and open interpretation. Brent Smith’s vivid delivery echoes a sense of inner turbulence and vulnerability, especially in lines like:
"We're not sick but we're not well, we're just toxic twins on a carousel."

Ahead of the release, frontman Brent Smith commented:

“ ‘Killing Fields’ is not a song that has one specific meaning... The audience is the BOSS, and they should have the freedom to interpret it the way they hear it, feel it, and experience it... The true question is, how will you respond. So without further ado... Welcome to the ‘Killing Fields’. ”

A New Milestone for SHINEDOWN

The release of "Killing Fields" comes just days before SHINEDOWN embarks on the biggest tour of their career , kicking off July 19 at TD Garden in Boston , and continuing to legendary venues including Madison Square Garden (for their first-ever headlining appearance there) and Los Angeles’s Kia Forum on August 3. The tour's second leg will feature support from BUSH and Morgan Wade , adding even more excitement to what promises to be a monumental run.

A Record-Breaking 2025

“Killing Fields” follows the band's dual release of “Three Six Five” and “Dance, Kid, Dance” in January — two tracks that shattered expectations and expanded SHINEDOWN’s chart dominance.

“Three Six Five” has charted simultaneously on five different radio formats — hitting #1 at Alternative , Top 10 at Hot AC and AC , #16 at Active Rock , and climbing into the Top 20 at Top 40 .

Its emotionally resonant animated video struck a chord with fans, turning the YouTube comment section into a communal place of healing and story-sharing.

Meanwhile, “Dance, Kid, Dance” carved its name into the history books as:

SHINEDOWN’s 22nd #1 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart

Their 20th #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart — making them the only band to achieve that many #1s in the chart’s history

Tying them with the Foo Fighters for the most songs to ever hit the Top 10 on that same Billboard chart, with 32 entries each

On Mediabase alone, SHINEDOWN leads the pack with the most #1s , Top 5s , and Top 10s in Active Rock — further proving their unstoppable presence in modern rock music.

Awards and Acclaim

In a year packed with accolades, SHINEDOWN also celebrated major wins at the iHeartRadio Music Awards , taking home:

Rock Artist of the Year

Rock Song of the Year for the universally relatable track “A Symptom Of Being Human”

The song, which appears on their album Planet Zero , has surpassed 125 million global streams and reached Top 20 placement across five major radio formats .

Giving Back Through Music

Never ones to shy away from advocacy and philanthropy, SHINEDOWN is donating $1 from every ticket sold on their upcoming tour to Musicians On Call , a nonprofit organization that brings live and virtual performances to patients in hospitals across the U.S.

For 25 years, Musicians On Call has reached over one million people nationwide — from children in pediatric units to veterans in VA facilities — using music as a form of healing. The band’s partnership with MOC reflects their ongoing commitment to using their platform to give back to those in need.

With "Killing Fields" setting the tone for what could be SHINEDOWN's most electrifying era yet, and a record-breaking tour ahead, the band continues to redefine what it means to be one of the most successful rock acts in the world — by staying fearless, authentic, and powerfully human.
