ICYMI: IRON BONEHEAD PRODUCTIONS is proud to present a special EP from KATAVASIA, Invoking the Spirit of Doom, on 7" vinyl format.
KATAVASIA is a Greek black metal band formed in 2014 by members of well-known Greek metal acts such as Varathron, Hail Spirit Noir, Aenaon, Melan Selas, and Agnes Vein. The goal of the alliance was to compose and perform Greek black metal at its finest.
In 2015, KATAVASIA released their debut album, Sacrilegious Testament, which was highly praised by both media and fans for its dedication to the original Greek BM sound but at the same time offering originality. A 7" EP titled Daemonic Offering followed in 2017 to prove, once again, the band's aptitude and hunger for more devilish riffs and engrossing atmosphere. Their long-awaited second album, Magnus Venator, followed in 2020, proving that KATAVASIA's sound is as enduring and eternal as ever
And they prove that yet again with a quick-hitting EP under the banner of longtime fans IRON BONEHEAD. Aptly titled Invoking the Spirit of Doom, KATAVASIA's new two-song offering presents the band's majestic-yet-malevolent sound in its rawest form yet, but rich and robust like never before. Like a time-warp to the early '90s but imbued with the wisdom of the ages, these two tracks are quintessential Hellenic black metal given a demonic twist...straight into the abyss, where it all began!

Released July 23, 2021
The Age Of Ore just released a new track called ' The Call '. Thematically its a bit darker than previous songs, and is about a person who struggles with an addiction that brings them to the brink of death over and over again, and no matter what they do, they continue down this road until it takes their life.
The song starts off subtly, but soon comes in incredibly heavily, and switches between soft and heavy throughout the song, which exemplifies some of the thematic elements the song is about. The song has fast, chugging guitar riffs, melodic acoustic parts, a very heavy bass line, and powerful, in-your-face drumming.

The song is characterized by fast and intricate riffs, grungy vocals, a thick, chugging bass line and a funky drum solo. The vocals are rich and powerful and give the song a heavier edge. Germany's NOCTURNAL premiere new track at NoCleanSinging.com - @thebeast
Today, German thrash institution Nocturnal premiere the new track "Void Dweller" at heavily trafficked web-portal NoCleanSinging.com . The track is the third to be revealed from the band's long-awaited fourth album, Serpent Death , set for international release on August 27th via Dying Victims Productions . H ear Nocturnal 's "Void Dweller" in its entirety exclusively HERE .
A veritable institution, Nocturnal have been flying the flag of hate and inciting a riot of violence since the year 2000. Helmed by founding guitarist Avenger (whose other credits are far too vast to list here), Nocturnal set about their prolific course with a flurry of demo tapes and splits with the likes of Nunslaughter, Vomitor, Bestial Mockery, and Toxic Holocaust among others, all culminating in their momentous Arrival of the Carnivore debut album in 2005. Back then, hailing the old Teutonic gods of thrash – namely the “Big Three” of Sodom, Kreator, and Destruction, but not withstanding Deathrow, Assassin, Exumer, Darkness, Violent Force, and Necronomicon as well as Razor and early Sepultura abroad – was rather unfashionable, but it was Nocturnal who had the last laugh, as the second worldwide thrash resurgence was about to begin, and there they stood, undaunted and defiant.
Thereafter, Nocturnal continued to honor the old underground ways with another flurry splits and vinyl EPs, before second LP Violent Revenge arrived in 2009. Thus far, Nocturnal ’s albums were more finely honed and better-produced expressions of those prolific UG releases, and they kept apace with that schematic through the release of their third LP, Storming Evil , in 2014. By then, lineup troubles had begun to plague the band and slow their momentum, and thereafter was all quiet on the Western front. But at long last, the ultimate revenge arrives with Serpent Death !
As aptly titled as any Nocturnal full-length so far, Serpent Death slithers and strikes with a venomous menace. Arguably the band’s best-produced as well as best-played record to date, Serpent Death loses not an ounce of power and poignancy; if anything, Nocturnal sound more energetic than ever, revitalized and ripping and defying their seemingly advanced age. Whereas the preceding Storming Evil perhaps leaned too much on the cleaner side of things, Serpent Death is robustly analog, flexing both muscle and clarity, all while remaining steadfastly analog. Further, there’s more (but subtle) twists in the songwriting and dynamics, evincing an ageless metal wisdom whilst not sacrificing any urgency in the process. Avenger, as always, is an absolute riff-machine, firing off memorable lines right and left, but he’s more-than-ably backed up by a blood-red-vital rhythm section in bassist Incinerator and drummer John Berry. New vocalist Invoker has a rougher and more hollering voice, perfectly suited for these classic metal-inclined tunes. So, less “sharp” pure thrash and more “warmer” traditional metal: it’s a trade-off that pays in spades on Serpent Death .
Timeless, eternal, both behind the times and ahead of ‘em – there’s few bands with a body of work quite like Nocturnal . Even if it’s another five-plus years between albums, Serpent Death handily satisfies with a sound that’s so old, it’s new!

Jim Matheos' Tuesday The Sky launches video for new single, "The Blurred Horizon" - @thebeast
On September 3rd, Tuesday The Sky will release their new album, The Blurred Horizon , via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the record, a new video for the title track can be viewed at:
The previously released single, "Hypneurotic", can be heard at: metalblade.com/tuesdaythesky , where The Blurred Horizon can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:
- digipak-CD
- 180g black vinyl (EU exclusive)
- orange / red marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 300 copies)
- orange w/ black dust vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 200 copies)
- turquoise marbled vinyl (US exclusive)
- clear w/ green & white splatter vinyl (US exclusive)
Tuesday The Sky 's origins could almost be considered accidental. Guitarist Jim Matheos, famed for his work with progressive metal giants Fates Warning alongside projects such as OSI and his collaboration with John Arch, Arch/Matheos , penned a few songs that did not fit in with any of his established outlets, and intrigued by this, decided to write more and see where this took him. The result was 2017's Drift , a record that drew influence from the likes of Brian Eno, Sigur Ros, Boards Of Canada and Explosions In The Sky , and now he returns with its successor, The Blurred Horizon . A mixture of ambient, electronica, post-rock and more, The Blurred Horizon is perhaps best described as a beautiful record, having a natural grace to it. While predominantly the work of Matheos, he is not the sole performer on the record, enlisting the help of other musicians where necessary. "It's primarily a solo project, but with the idea of having different guests on each record to help fill it out and, hopefully, give each one a slightly different sound. With the first record, there was Anna Lynne Williams on vocals for a couple of songs, and Lloyd Hanney of God Is An Astronaut on drums. For this one, the live drums on five tracks were handled by Gavin Harrison of The Pineapple Thief, King Crimson , and Porcupine Tree . He's my absolute favorite drummer, so he was the first person I thought of when I decided that some of the songs could benefit from real drums. I originally was thinking of just one or two songs, but once I heard how good he made them sound, I kept asking him do more, which, thankfully, he agreed to. His playing added a whole new dimension to the songs, particularly on 'Hypneurotic', where he plays two different full drum kit takes, panned left and right, to achieve a kind of 'double drummer' effect."
"Everything Is Free" - the closing track and only one on the record to include vocals - is a cover of a Gillian Welch and David Rawlings song from 2001. " Fates Warning were thinking about doing some cover tunes as bonus tracks for 'Long Day Good Night' (2020), and when that didn't happen, I kept this one in mind for a future project. It seemed to fit nicely here, even though it's an otherwise instrumental album, and the vocals are by Tim Bowness. Like Gavin, Tim is someone I've worked with in the past, with OSI and several other projects. He's got a beautiful voice and his gentle delivery is just what I wanted for this one."
The Blurred Horizon track-listing
1. Half Remembered
2. Near Light
3. Cwmwl
4. Where the Enemy Sleeps
5. Laudanum Dream
6. Hypneurotic
7. Later, Then Now

Boozewa stream new EP via Doomed & Stoned - @thebeast
Boozewa (Featuring members of Backwoods Payback) are streaming their new EP "Deb" via Doomed and Stoned. The EP was mastered by Tad Doyle of the legendary band TAD at Witch Ape Studio in Seattle Washington and is set to be released on 7" vinyl this Friday.
Listen: https://doomedandstoned.com/post/658602814314037248/boozewa
The EP follows the debut demo ‘First Contact’ which released in February of 2021 and sold out on tape in a month, spawning two more limited pressings of it. Bringing a distinctive sound, Boozewa draws passionately from the heaviest of the heavy through to the mellowest of the mellow. Emphasised by their unusual recording method, the vintage touch produces a unique tone with a dynamic, atmospheric quality. Dark, gloomy sounds are encountered in the opening track ‘Deb’ with heavily distorted guitars creating an aptly ambient level of noise. Combined with a slow tempo and soaring vocal harmonies it’s a startling contradiction. The B-side ‘Now Stop’ delves brings rhythmic, traditional heavy metal inspired instrumentation and edgier vocals.
For a project formed in the summer of 2020 by three musicians stuck locked down, in a house, with nothing else to do, Boozewa is an agent of creativity and innovation from composition to production. Versatile and progressive, ‘Deb’ is an experience for the senses that is not to be missed.
Line-Up
- Jessica Baker / bass, hollering
- Rylan Caspar / guitar, hollering
- Mike Cummings (mRc) / drums, hollering
