Olympia, WA – ACERBIC, the searing death-thrash powerhouse from Olympia, Washington, announces the release of their debut EP, Abhorrent Atrocities Against All Humankind , set to strike in February 2026. Fusing relentless aggression with melodic darkness, ACERBIC delivers six devastating tracks designed to thrill fans of Carcass, At The Gates, and Power Trip.

Founded in 2013 as a solo project by guitarist Chris Thompson, ACERBIC has evolved over the years into a full-force band featuring Gabriel Glandon on vocals, Xander Provencher on bass, Chris Hannan on drums, and Thompson himself on guitar. With influences ranging from old-school death metal to melodic intricacy, ACERBIC’s sound blends vicious riffs, menacing grooves, and haunting melodies into a dark, visceral atmosphere.

The band first grabbed attention with their 2023 demo, featuring session drums by Dirk Verbeuren and scorching leads from Kragen Lum on “Despondent.” The demo’s international recognition, including features in Slowly We Rot magazine (Romania) and Guts N Blood Records’ Rotten Pages #8 compilation (Peru), set the stage for a full band lineup and the creation of their debut EP.

Recorded at Elektriccity Recording in Portland, Oregon (August 2025) and mixed/mastered by Charlie Koryn (October–November 2025), Abhorrent Atrocities Against All Humankind showcases ACERBIC at their most brutal and precise. From Gabriel’s guttural growls and banshee highs to Chris Hannan’s punishing drumming and Xander Provencher’s 6-string bass melodies complementing Thompson’s guitar riffs, this EP is a front-to-back assault that will satisfy fans with a taste for extreme, melody-laden metal.

The lead single, “Shallow Grave,” is accompanied by a striking music video produced by J. Donovan Malley, while the EP’s hand-painted cover art by Matt Stikker visually captures the EP’s dark intensity. Abhorrent Atrocities Against All Humankind will be available in limited CD and cassette editions via ACERBIC’s Bandcamp page.

Hailing from Olympia’s metal scene, ACERBIC continues to haunt stages along 4th Avenue, bringing uncompromising death-thrash to fans near and far.

just raw, honest expression delivered through every instrument and every word.

The project has evolved sharply over the years. KNOW’s debut album Freedom explored Industrial, Nu Metal, and Electronic elements in a collaborative format. But since 2022, after lineup changes, Santosh forged a strict, heavier Metal direction that clicked with listeners. Singles like “Demoncracy” and “Blissful Spirit” marked the shift, gaining momentum and defining the band’s core strength.

Medford’s own Emissary is at it again, sharpening their USPM and melodic thrash edge with a newly unearthed version of “The Silent Treatment.” This alternate master, originally created during the production cycle for their 2022 full length “The Wretched Masquerade,” is finally getting its moment in the spotlight.

This isn’t just any alternate version either. This one was mastered by Grammy Award winning, RIAA Multi Platinum and Gold Mastering and Mix Engineer Evren Göknar , whose long tenure at Capitol Records put him behind the board for icons like KISS, Megadeth, and Queensryche. If you’re hearing shades of that classic sheen, you’re not imagining it.

The track appears on a brand new compilation album from Metallurg Music in Ukraine, set to drop in late November alongside issue #6 of Metallurg Magazine. It’s packed with an international lineup including DarkFlow, Hybridized, Rage Unfold, Silver Phantom, Celtic Hills, Everlust, Crystal Sword, and plenty more underground firepower.

Frontman Jym Harris breaks it down straight:

“We tried out a few different mastering engineers when ‘Wretched’ came out,” he says. “Jamie King mastered the full album for consistency, but Evren’s version always had a special character to it. We used his master on a limited summer tour EP and hardly anyone got their hands on that thing, so we’re stoked people can finally hear it again.”

Emissary continues building momentum after their debut album and their 2024 maxi single “The Crystal Witch,” with a new full length planned for 2026. The current lineup includes Jym Harris (vocals), Tim Dahlen (guitar), Charlie Francipane (guitar), Peter Shawn Kinney (bass), and Tony Mullins (drums).

(Zach’s take: I definitely hear the Metal Church punch, but there’s also a little early Sanctuary and a pinch of Forbidden attitude hiding in there.)

International heavy metal force Nine Red Moons are gearing up to release their debut album Sumerian Songs for the Dead , a record forged across continents and rooted in the timeless spirit of the genre. Fans of Iron Maiden , Queensryche , and Helloween are about to find their new obsession.

Nine Red Moons is the brainchild of Brazilian guitarist Eduardo “Paulista” Simões (Pit Passarell, Chakal). After tracking guitars for Pit Passarell’s solo album, he started catching heat from fans who wanted to hear his music front and center. So he dusted off the songs he wrote during the pandemic, called up some trusted heavy hitters from around the globe, and brought the whole thing to life the old fashioned way: great riffs, great players, zero shortcuts.

The lineup spans Brazil, England, Poland, and Greece, with powerhouse vocalist Tasos Lazaris stepping up to re-record the vocals. His voice channels that sweet spot between Bruce Dickinson’s fire and Geoff Tate’s finesse, giving the band that classic metal edge without sounding like a throwback act trapped in amber.

The album also features a killer list of guests, including Paulo Xisto (Sepultura), Hugo Mariutti (ex-Shaman, ex-André Matos), and violinist Julia Stein , a Guildhall-trained musician who brings an unexpected but striking flair to the mix.

As the band puts it, these first releases showcase songs built on heavy guitars, soaring melodies, and everything fans miss about traditional heavy metal. No gimmicks. No trend-chasing. Just the real deal.

The album was produced by Eduardo Simões and mixed/mastered by Val Santos , keeping everything tight, sharp, and proudly rooted in the sound metal was built on.

As the metal community regains its strength, Wacken Open Air 2026 will be the 35th edition of the festival and will be held from July 29th to August 1st. Wacken Metal Battle USA is part of an international competition that sees bands from across the country battle each other for the chance to win their spot among over 55 other countries’ champions, and represent the USA in an international battle of the bands at the world’s largest outdoor metal festival: Wacken Open Air. The battles have been hosted at the festival for over a decade and give independent bands the opportunity to showcase their talents to an international audience, along with the chance to win multiple prizes.
How it works:​

Dutch rock and nu metal duo Neverskin has unleashed their brand new single “Piece of Mind” , and the legendary Dequeruza Magazine is already shining a well earned spotlight on the band’s massive return. The track follows their hard hitting comeback single “Snatched,” proving the duo is back in full force and firing on all cylinders.

Formed by longtime friends Remy and Clint, Neverskin rose out of the early 2000s ashes of their former band Ambiossis. After nearly twenty years apart, fate stepped in with one of those moments you just can’t ignore. While out jogging, Clint suddenly heard an old Ambiossis track come on even though the band never uploaded it anywhere. One message to Remy later and the fire was lit all over again.

“I took it as a sign,” Clint told Volecho Magazine. “I messaged Remy and a week later we had a full new track written. It all came together like we never stopped.”

That track became “Snatched,” a raw surge of groove driven energy that nodded to the nu metal the band grew up on while pushing everything forward. Their new single “Piece of Mind” goes even deeper. Heavy riffs, rap influenced vocals and big hooks drive a sound that hits personal and hits hard.

“Recording at home gives us freedom,” Remy explained. “No time pressure. No limits. You can create something honest without feeling boxed in.”

Working entirely from their home studios in Lelystad, the duo stays independent, self powered and fully in control of their vision. For Neverskin, it’s all about emotion, expression and never locking themselves into one lane.

“We do what we feel,” Clint said. “It could be this today or something totally different tomorrow. That freedom is everything.”

His career reads like a fever dream: from coming up alongside Korn , Incubus , and Weezer on the Sunset Strip, to directing adult films, to becoming the first frontman to perform full body suspension onstage, to working with icons like DMC, John 5, Wednesday 13, and Zakk Wylde . He even shot the final music video Wayne Static ever filmed.

But what really blows minds is the list of strangely missing receipts. Despite appearing on MTV, VH1, and even Jerry Springer , almost none of that footage exists online. Zane claims it’s not by accident.

“You can find everything from G.G. Allin ,” he said on the show. “You can find everything from Marilyn Manson and Peter Steele . But you can’t find my MTV or VH1 appearances anywhere. It’s like they burned it all.”

The censorship theme doesn’t end there. Zane talked about an infamous incident where Mark McGrath allegedly got him banned from MTV networks. Then there’s the long-buried story of Ozzy Osbourne giving him a disgusted look and walking out of a VIP room rather than share the space with him.

“That one still stings,” Zane admitted. “I grew up worshiping Black Sabbath . Our first real release was a Sabbath cover. And Ozzy wanted nothing to do with me.”

Alice Cooper also enters the conversation. Zane compared Cooper’s famous Elvis karate-kick story to his own experiences, pointing out that Cooper never needed proof because he was already accepted by the industry. “If I told the same story, nobody would believe it. That’s the wall I live behind.”

Despite that uphill fight, Zane has carved out a place in rock history the hard way. Society 1’s notorious stage acts—suspension, bloodletting, fan-assisted cutting, and even their infamous backstage debauchery—pushed shock performance past anything the genre had seen since the days of G.G. Allin. And Zane believes that’s exactly why the industry has kept its distance.

“I’m the guy who crossed every line nobody else wanted to go near,” he said. “That’s why people refuse to acknowledge it. It’s easier to pretend I never existed.”

One of the biggest revelations of the interview revolves around the new Wayne Static and Tera Wray documentary Zane is preparing for 2026. He and Wayne had begun working on a project together in 2014 before Static’s death. What’s more, Zane holds unreleased music Wayne recorded with him—material that was long stored away until modern technology made it possible to extract usable stems.

“It’s not some big lost album,” he clarified, “but it’s real music Wayne played on. I’m going to finish what we started.”

Zane also confirmed he’s acquiring rare, never-before-seen footage from Wayne’s final years, aiming to let Wayne and Tera “tell their own story” instead of relying on secondhand commentary.

The interview goes far beyond documentaries and lost tapes, though. Zane dug into his early porn-to-rock days, the massive backlash to Society 1’s Quran-smearing video, the band’s notorious backstage mayhem, encounters with Lemmy and Kelly Clarkson , and even a digital recreation of the room where Kurt Cobain died—a video banned from YouTube within minutes.

In a world where shock rock has been watered down, sanitized, and rebranded as nostalgia, Zane stands out as one of the last artists who still carries the dangerous energy of the underground. Whether people like him or not, the man has lived a life most bands wouldn’t dare put on their rider.

With a new documentary, unreleased Wayne Static material, and a sequel to Everyone Dies on the way, Matt Zane’s name is impossible to bury—no matter how hard certain corners of the industry try.

Metal Addicts Spotlights Filmmaker Matt Zane’s Upcoming Wayne Static Documentary via Metal Devastation PR

Metal Devastation PR is proud to announce major coverage from Metal Addicts , who have featured filmmaker and longtime Static X collaborator Matt Zane and his upcoming unauthorized documentary exploring the life and legacy of Wayne Static and Tera Wray . Production is scheduled to begin January 2026 , marking the long overdue revival of a project Zane feels personally responsible to finish.

Zane’s history with the couple runs deep. He knew Tera before Wayne, spent roughly fourteen years working alongside Wayne, and directed multiple solo videos including “Assassins Of Youth,” “Pighammer Promo,” and “Noise Revolution” featuring DMC. Before Wayne’s passing in 2014, the trio had begun building a docuseries about their life together, but financial setbacks shut the project down before it could be completed.

“I knew Wayne for about 14 years, and Tera even longer,” Zane said. “We were all close, and I worked on every project he did after leaving Static X. This was something they wanted done, and something they wanted me to do. I feel I owe them this.”

The documentary will also incorporate unreleased music recorded by Zane and Wayne years ago. Several pieces were originally created for a film project of Tera’s. While a few ideas later made their way onto Pighammer , the rest has been locked away until now. Zane is diving back into the material and plans to complete select tracks with support from modern A.I. tools.

Alongside the film’s production kickoff, Zane will launch a crowdfunding campaign in January . He’s also inviting anyone who was close to Wayne and Tera between 2008 and 2015 to share stories, memories, or insights. Those interested can reach him through EveryoneDiesTheMovie.com .

As noted by Metal Addicts, the families of Wayne Static and Tera Wray, along with Static X’s original members, are not involved with or endorsing the project .

Wayne Static passed on November 1, 2014, at age 48 from an accidental mixture of alcohol and prescription medication. Tera Wray died in January 2016.
