Ozzy Osbourne, Prince of Darkness and Metal Icon, Dies at 76 - @thebeast

The world has lost one of its loudest, wildest, and most beloved voices. Ozzy Osbourne — legendary frontman of Black Sabbath, groundbreaking solo artist, and unlikely reality TV icon — died Tuesday at the age of 76. His family confirmed the news in a statement, saying, “He was with his family and surrounded by love.” No cause of death has been disclosed.

For many in the metal community, this was a day long feared — but never truly imagined. Fans around the world are grieving the loss of a man who wasn’t just part of metal’s foundation — he was the foundation.

“I saw a few people making posts saying RIP Ozzy, and I thought it had to be a joke... or maybe they were just talking about him retiring,” one fan wrote in a deeply emotional tribute. “But no — it’s real. It’s painfully, devastatingly true. The metal world lost a giant today. A king. The very essence of heavy metal began with the riffs of Black Sabbath and his voice simply saying: ‘What is this that stands before me?’ That line still gives me chills.”

Born John Michael Osbourne on December 3, 1948, in Birmingham, England, he co-founded Black Sabbath in 1968 alongside Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. Their heavy, sludgy sound — paired with dark lyrical themes and Ozzy’s chilling vocal delivery — helped birth the genre now known as heavy metal.

After parting ways with Sabbath in 1979, Ozzy launched a solo career that roared to life with Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman, featuring the late Randy Rhoads. The records became essential metal listening, packed with unforgettable anthems like “Crazy Train,” “Mr. Crowley,” and “Over the Mountain.”

“I was lucky — very lucky — to see Ozzy so many times,” the tribute continued. “With his solo band, with Sabbath… and most recently, I watched that final concert in Birmingham. Back to the beginning. I cried my eyes out when he sang Mama, I’m Coming Home. A part of me knew what he meant while he was singing that. I think he knew too. He looked out at his fans one last time to say goodbye.”

Indeed, on July 5, just weeks before his death, Ozzy reunited with Black Sabbath for a livestreamed farewell concert that now serves as his final bow. It was a moment of history, closure, and deep emotion — a titan of metal returning home to where it all began.

While music was always at the center of his world, Osbourne became a cultural icon in the early 2000s through MTV’s The Osbournes, which gave audiences a raw, often hilarious look into his family life. He followed it with other TV ventures, but the core of his influence remained in the music — and in the millions of people he inspired.

“Ozzy, we will miss you more than words can say,” the fan’s post concludes. “I wouldn’t have my radio show. I wouldn’t be doing PR for metal bands. I wouldn’t be helping run a metal festival — if you and Sabbath hadn’t done what you did. I think about it every single day. Every time I hit play on a crushing riff. Every time I pick up my guitar. Every time I email a band or do an interview on my show. All of it. You changed the world.”

Osbourne is survived by his wife Sharon, their children Kelly, Jack, and Aimee, and countless fans around the globe whose lives were changed by his voice, his music, and his sheer defiance of death and expectation.

Rest in Power, Ozzy Osbourne.
The world is darker, quieter, and far less fun without you.

More tributes and reflections to come.

Modern metal trailblazers Fahrenheit Paradox have returned in full force with their latest single, "Recall" , now available on all streaming platforms. The track is the fourth release from their upcoming album, World of Chaos , and showcases the band’s relentless evolution—melding powerful riffing with atmospheric melodies, and clean and raspy vocals in perfect harmony.

"Recall" continues the band's tradition of sonic exploration, delivering a mix of melodic passages and extreme intensity that will appeal to fans of Symphony X , DGM , and Category 7 . Written by guitarist Piero Baroccio and produced by a team including Alejandro Isaac , Carlos Flores , and Ricardo Ortiz "Wany" , the track is a shining example of the group’s modern take on metal with deep roots in progressive and power metal traditions.

A Legacy Reinvented

Fahrenheit Paradox’s story begins in the ashes of Draksen , one of Mexico’s pioneering thrash metal bands of the '90s. Founding guitarist Alex Isaac formed Fahrenheit in the early 2000s, shifting toward a power metal style and quickly gaining international attention with their debut EP Epic Enter (2002). Their following full-length Uncharted Dreams (2005) expanded their reach worldwide, thanks to critical acclaim and music video rotation on major networks like Telehit. With their 2018 concept album Rain , the band rebranded as Fahrenheit Paradox , solidifying their identity as a force in modern metal.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the band continued refining their sound, culminating in a string of powerful singles leading up to their 2025 return. Along with "Recall" , tracks like "Your Hell" , "Evil Night" , and "Survive" are reshaping expectations for what modern metal can be.

Fahrenheit Paradox is:

Carlos Flores – Lead Vocals

Alejandro Isaac – Guitar

Piero Baroccio – Guitar

Augusto Azpeitia – Bass

Christian Arambul – Drums

"Recall" is available now on all major digital platforms. Fans of technically proficient, emotionally driven metal won’t want to miss this new chapter from a band with over two decades of history and innovation.

SEPTARIAN & DARK SAILS ENTERTAINMENT TAKEOVER THE ZACH MOONSHINE SHOW - @thebeast

This past Friday night on The Zach Moonshine Show , listeners were treated to a brutal double feature as Alabama-based metal wrecking crew SEPTARIAN and Codye Satterwhite from rising underground label Dark Sails Entertainment joined us live for two raw, in-depth interviews — exclusively on Metal Devastation Radio .

The energy was high, the riffs were heavy, and the underground was thriving.

⚔️ SEPTARIAN: From Family Roots to the Frontlines of Metal

First up was SEPTARIAN , a tight-knit band blending veteran musicianship with bloodline chemistry. Guitarist Josh and drummer Kenneth have been playing together for over 25 years. Now joined by Kenneth’s daughter Megan on vocals, and rounded out by bassist John and guitarist Nick , the band has rebranded and redefined themselves — emerging from the ashes of their past project Double Barrel Democracy .

“We’ve been trying for the last three years to get on this [festival]... We are super fucking excited.” – Josh
“It’s in my blood. What can I say?” – Megan

Influenced by everyone from Death and Napalm Death to Dying Fetus , Fear Factory , and Arch Enemy (especially during the Angela Gossow era), SEPTARIAN delivers a powerful blend of brutality and melody. Zach described their sound as:

“Arch Enemy, eat your fucking heart out… but taken to a new level.”

The band will unleash a new full-length album titled Blood Scripture , tracked at Dark Sails’ studio and partially mixed by a member of Gojira — a massive nod to their rising profile.

🎛 CODY SATTERWHITE & DARK SAILS ENTERTAINMENT: A Label That Gets It

Later in the show, Codye Satterwhite , founder of Dark Sails Entertainment , joined the conversation to shed light on the label’s mission, studio, and future plans.

Born from the struggles of the early 2000s DIY scene, Dark Sails was created to help underground bands navigate today’s oversaturated digital landscape with real resources and passion.

“We just want to help bands… get music to market at modern recording standards.”

Dark Sails operates their own professional studio in Norcross, GA, featuring a massive collection of amps, cabs, and boutique gear , plus an SSL Origin console for drum tracking. The studio doesn’t rely on Kemper profiling — they track real amps, real air .

Upcoming releases from the label include:

Septarian – 3 new singles and the full-length Blood Scripture

Violence System – studio EP on the way

Leafblower – debut EP dropping in August

Subdivisions – new album due mid-September

Dark Sails Compilation CD – featuring 15 tracks from across the label’s roster, available at the festival

“Guitar players drool when they walk into our studio and see all the heads we have.” – Codye
“Support independent music. Support your local bands. Support what Zach is doing.”

🤘 Tennessee Metal Devastation Fest 2025: Countdown Begins

Both interviews were heavily focused on the upcoming Tennessee Metal Devastation Music Fest 2025 , where both SEPTARIAN and several Dark Sails bands will perform. The excitement was contagious:

“We are going to throw down harder than we ever thrown down before.” – Megan (Septarian)

Codye predicted this may be the last year the fest is held at its current Jackson venue:

“You’re going to outgrow it — and that’s a good thing.”

Zach teased bigger speakers , more power , and of course, more tacos .

YOUR LAST BREATH ANNOUNCES EXPLOSIVE NEW SINGLE “ALL BITE” – DROPPING AUGUST 8, 2025! - @thebeast

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 2025

YOUR LAST BREATH ANNOUNCES EXPLOSIVE NEW SINGLE “ALL BITE” – DROPPING AUGUST 8, 2025!

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Get ready to sink your teeth into something vicious. YOUR LAST BREATH , one of the Midwest’s most exciting new forces in metalcore, is set to release their blistering new single “All Bite” on August 8, 2025 . The track marks the beginning of an ambitious new release cycle and sets the tone for what’s to come from the hard-hitting Twin Cities quartet.

🔥 PRE-SAVE “ALL BITE” NOW :
https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/yourlastbreath1/all-bite />

Produced and engineered by Cody Pauly , “All Bite” delivers a ruthless mix of crushing breakdowns, experimental sound design, and emotionally raw lyricism. The band pushes their boundaries, offering fans a chaotic yet calculated sonic assault that reflects their evolution and hunger for more.

Rising from the chaos of 2020 and forged through personal tragedy, Your Last Breath was founded by guitarist/vocalist Dustan Cano in the wake of a near-death experience. Their music—rooted in metalcore but infused with elements of pop-punk, emo, and alternative rock—is both deeply personal and unapologetically aggressive.

Now backed by Extreme Management Group, Inc. , known for representing metal icons like Suffocation and Misery Index, Your Last Breath is charging into 2025 with fire in their lungs and a point to prove.

“All Bite” features the searing vocals of Dakota Adams , heavy rhythmic grooves from Bryce Laing (bass) and Brandon Scheffen (drums), and the melodic yet punishing guitar work of Cano . The track is a high-octane statement piece that balances fury and finesse, and it's just a taste of what the band has planned for the year ahead.

With a growing fanbase, ferocious live performances, and a debut full-length album in the works for 2026, Your Last Breath is poised to carve their name deep into the future of heavy music.

He Shot a Man While Quoting Metallica: The Shocking Murder That Linked a Thrash Classic to Death Row - @thebeast

“Another day, another death, another sorrow, another breath.”
When Metallica screamed those words on their 1983 debut album Kill 'Em All, they couldn’t have imagined the horrifying way they'd be repeated just a year later—at the scene of a cold-blooded murder.

In one of the most disturbing intersections of heavy metal and real-life violence, an 18-year-old Texan named Troy Kunkle used a lyric from Metallica’s No Remorse as the twisted soundtrack to a fatal shooting that would shock the nation and land him on death row.

It all went down on August 11, 1984. Kunkle and a group of friends, high and drunk, were cruising around Corpus Christi when they spotted a man walking alone. That man was Stephen Horton, 31, just trying to get home. The group offered him a ride—but it was a trap. Moments later, Horton was dead from a gunshot to the head, his body dumped in a field like garbage.

And as the witness would later testify, it wasn’t just the gunshot that haunted them—it was the killer singing.
"Another day, another death, another sorrow, another breath..."

Yes, a lyric from Metallica’s No Remorse—sung out loud as the trigger was pulled.

The band, then in the early stages of their meteoric rise, found out while rolling into Corpus Christi on tour. "We woke up with a call from our manager,” drummer Lars Ulrich recalled. “Some kid apparently took some acid or other fucked-up drugs and went on a killing rampage... quoting one of our lyrics when he shot someone at point blank range."

Suddenly, Metallica were at the center of a moral firestorm—accused of being the musical fuel behind a senseless murder.

Kunkle was sentenced to death and spent over two decades on death row. In a 2004 interview, he called the killing a “juvenile mistake made with juvenile peer pressure.” But the state of Texas wasn’t swayed. In 2005, Kunkle was executed by lethal injection. His final words? A far cry from metal lyrics: “I love you and I will see all of you in heaven.”

But this wasn't the only time Metallica’s music was linked to tragedy. According to Ulrich, the band also caught heat over Fade to Black—a ballad about suicidal thoughts. “We got flak because some kids left notes with our lyrics, or asked for the song to be played at their funerals,” he said.

Yet in stark contrast, Ulrich noted that thousands of fans also wrote to say that Fade to Black saved their lives.

So, what’s the real story here? A band unfairly blamed for society’s ills—or proof that dark art can be dangerously misunderstood? Either way, it’s a chilling reminder that music—like murder—can leave a lyric echoing forever.

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS Streams Haunting New Album “A Void Within Existence” Ahead of Official Release - @thebeast

American black metal torchbearers ABIGAIL WILLIAMS have unveiled a full stream of their highly anticipated new album, A Void Within Existence , ahead of its official release on July 18th via Agonia Records . Fans can experience the record in its entirety now on YouTube:
🎧 Listen Here

Marking the band’s first full-length in five years, A Void Within Existence follows 2019’s critically praised Walk Beyond the Dark and pushes their sonic and emotional boundaries further than ever before. Produced by frontman Ken Sorceron and mixed by acclaimed engineer Dave Otero (Aborted, Akhlys), the new record is a masterclass in bleak atmosphere, melodic desolation, and black metal grandeur.

"This record was born in the quiet hours, when everything felt hollow," Sorceron reveals. “There’s a loneliness threaded through these songs that came from somewhere deeper than I expected… It’s a crucible—a journey through the fire where only shadow and silence remain.”

A Void Within Existence takes listeners through a harrowing existential descent, grappling with loss, disintegration, and the collapse of self. Songs like “Still Nights” and “No Less Than Death” stir visions of memory and oblivion, while “Embrace The Chasm” and “Life, Disconnected” delve into cosmic dread with raw intensity and cinematic scale.

Elevating the album’s impact is the thunderous performance of drummer Mike Heller (Fear Factory, Ghost Bath), whose blend of chaotic precision drives the emotional weight of each track. The band’s expanded lineup—featuring Vance Valenzuela (Vale Of Pnath) on guitar and John Porada (ex-Nachtmystium, ex-Wolvhammer) on bass—cements a revitalized incarnation of ABIGAIL WILLIAMS over 20 years since its inception.

Visually, the album is brought to life with stunning artwork by Eliran Kantor (Testament, Bloodbath), encapsulating the desolation and scope of the music.

Golden Age of Gear Dives Deep into the Maxon OSD9: A Hidden Gem of Vintage Overdrives - @thebeast

This week on Golden Age of Gear, hosts Joey and Derek turn their attention to a pedal that often flies under the radar in the world of vintage stompboxes: the Maxon OSD9 Overdrive Soft Distortion. While the overdrive market is flooded with Tube Screamer clones and boutique alternatives, the OSD9 brings something subtly different—and deeply satisfying—to the table.

The episode kicks off with a tale from a recent gear-hunting mission in Toronto. While most of the attention went to the rare MXR Blue Box, Joey finally gave in to a long-standing temptation and scooped up the Maxon OSD9 from Capsule Music. It had been sitting in the shop's display case for years—quietly calling out to the discerning collector. What looked like another green box turned out to be a tone-shaping sleeper hit.

Though visually similar to Maxon's more famous models like the OD9 or the SD9 Sonic Distortion, the OSD9 stands apart in some key ways. Joey and Derek break it down in detail: it's more mid-focused, slightly rawer, and capable of some unexpectedly dynamic tones. In fact, in certain settings, it even cleans up like a vintage Fuzz Face—giving players a wide tonal range from creamy grit to fizzy bite.

The duo also unpacks the difference between the OSD9 and its sibling, the SD9, showing how each fits into a pedalboard and why the OSD9 might actually be the more versatile choice for players chasing both edge and clarity. Fans of legendary session guitarist Mike Landau will particularly appreciate the connection, as his adventurous tone-seeking played a big role in inspiring the hosts to chase down obscure pedals like this one.

Beyond the tone talk, Joey and Derek get personal, reminiscing about their first encounters with overdrive pedals and the never-ending quest for that "perfect" sound. Spoiler: sometimes the journey is the reward, and every failed experiment or oddball stompbox teaches you something new about your playing—and yourself.

Whether you're a seasoned gear collector or just dipping your toes into the world of vintage pedals, this episode is a must-listen. The Maxon OSD9 might not be the most famous overdrive out there, but thanks to Joey and Derek, it’s finally getting its moment in the spotlight.

Tune in to Golden Age of Gear wherever you get your podcasts—and maybe start eyeing that weird green box in your local shop window a little differently.

KISS to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of ‘Alive!’ With Massive Expanded Reissue: Eddie Kramer Reveals Details - @thebeast

As the 50th anniversary of one of rock's most iconic live albums approaches, KISS fans are in for a monumental treat. Legendary producer Eddie Kramer has confirmed that a special expanded edition of the band’s 1975 breakthrough live album Alive! is on the way — and it's coming in late 2025 under the title KISS Alive! 50 .

Kramer, who produced the original album, revealed the project during an appearance on The Jay Jay French Connection: Beyond The Music , the podcast hosted by TWISTED SISTER guitarist Jay Jay French. The new collection will include full mixes of all the original concert recordings that contributed to Alive! , as well as rare rehearsals and outtakes never before heard by the public.

“It’s a project I spent 46 days mixing,” said Kramer. “They found all the bloody tapes — thank God. Jeff Fura at Universal — big shoutout to him — he came up with the tapes; he found them. So we spent all this time restoring them, transferring them, and then I mixed every single show that actually contributed to the final one, plus all the rehearsals that Gene [Simmons] and Paul [Stanley] said, ‘We’ve gotta record in the afternoon.’”

Originally mixed at Electric Lady Studios in 1975, Alive! was the album that transformed KISS from a cult phenomenon into arena-filling superstars. Though the record is often credited with capturing the band’s raw and thunderous live energy, Kramer and the band have long admitted to studio enhancements in post-production.

“The band may deny it, but the fact remains that on Alive! , we had to fix a bunch of stuff,” Kramer told Guitar World last year. “They were always jumping around, and we had to do a bunch of work on the album after the fact. But that’s how it was… bombs going off, rockets, six-inch platform boots — it wasn’t easy to stay in tune or on time.”

Despite the polishing, both Kramer and Stanley maintain that the enhancements were necessary to deliver the full live experience to fans — an approach that arguably set a new standard for what a live album could be.

“'KISS Alive!' really captured the essence of the live experience,” Stanley explained on the Broken Record podcast. “That couldn't have happened without us going into the studio and enhancing it. Live albums were boring… we wanted an album that immersed you — bombs going off, people screaming, that total KISS experience.”

The KISS Alive! 50 package will reportedly include Dolby Atmos mixes and new audio restorations of the raw shows that comprised the original album, promising a more immersive and complete snapshot of KISS’s early live dominance.

The reissue follows the end of KISS’s touring career. The band played their final shows in December 2023 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, closing out their epic End of the Road farewell tour, which began in 2019 and was delayed by the pandemic.

In the wake of their live retirement, KISS has already begun pivoting to the future through a groundbreaking partnership with Sweden’s Pophouse Entertainment — the company behind ABBA Voyage . The deal includes the sale of KISS’s entire music catalog, image rights, and brand name. Plans are underway for a biopic, a KISS avatar show, and an immersive KISS-themed experience.

With KISS Alive! 50 on the horizon, the band continues to embrace its legacy while expanding into new and innovative realms of entertainment. As the Spaceman once said: "You wanted the best, you got the best!" — and 50 years later, it looks like KISS fans are still getting it.

SHINEDOWN Unleashes New Single “Killing Fields” Ahead of Monumental Arena Tour - @thebeast

SHINEDOWN has officially dropped a powerful new single titled "Killing Fields" via Atlantic Records, marking yet another bold chapter in their ever-evolving career. Known for pushing sonic boundaries and connecting deeply with fans, the band once again invites listeners into an emotionally charged soundscape — this time with a haunting slow-burn intro that builds into a thunderous, anthemic chorus.

Lyrically, “Killing Fields” digs into the chaos of modern life with ambiguity and open interpretation. Brent Smith’s vivid delivery echoes a sense of inner turbulence and vulnerability, especially in lines like:
"We're not sick but we're not well, we're just toxic twins on a carousel."

Ahead of the release, frontman Brent Smith commented:

“ ‘Killing Fields’ is not a song that has one specific meaning... The audience is the BOSS, and they should have the freedom to interpret it the way they hear it, feel it, and experience it... The true question is, how will you respond. So without further ado... Welcome to the ‘Killing Fields’. ”

A New Milestone for SHINEDOWN

The release of "Killing Fields" comes just days before SHINEDOWN embarks on the biggest tour of their career , kicking off July 19 at TD Garden in Boston , and continuing to legendary venues including Madison Square Garden (for their first-ever headlining appearance there) and Los Angeles’s Kia Forum on August 3. The tour's second leg will feature support from BUSH and Morgan Wade , adding even more excitement to what promises to be a monumental run.

A Record-Breaking 2025

“Killing Fields” follows the band's dual release of “Three Six Five” and “Dance, Kid, Dance” in January — two tracks that shattered expectations and expanded SHINEDOWN’s chart dominance.

“Three Six Five” has charted simultaneously on five different radio formats — hitting #1 at Alternative , Top 10 at Hot AC and AC , #16 at Active Rock , and climbing into the Top 20 at Top 40 .

Its emotionally resonant animated video struck a chord with fans, turning the YouTube comment section into a communal place of healing and story-sharing.

Meanwhile, “Dance, Kid, Dance” carved its name into the history books as:

SHINEDOWN’s 22nd #1 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart

Their 20th #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart — making them the only band to achieve that many #1s in the chart’s history

Tying them with the Foo Fighters for the most songs to ever hit the Top 10 on that same Billboard chart, with 32 entries each

On Mediabase alone, SHINEDOWN leads the pack with the most #1s , Top 5s , and Top 10s in Active Rock — further proving their unstoppable presence in modern rock music.

Awards and Acclaim

In a year packed with accolades, SHINEDOWN also celebrated major wins at the iHeartRadio Music Awards , taking home:

Rock Artist of the Year

Rock Song of the Year for the universally relatable track “A Symptom Of Being Human”

The song, which appears on their album Planet Zero , has surpassed 125 million global streams and reached Top 20 placement across five major radio formats .

Giving Back Through Music

Never ones to shy away from advocacy and philanthropy, SHINEDOWN is donating $1 from every ticket sold on their upcoming tour to Musicians On Call , a nonprofit organization that brings live and virtual performances to patients in hospitals across the U.S.

For 25 years, Musicians On Call has reached over one million people nationwide — from children in pediatric units to veterans in VA facilities — using music as a form of healing. The band’s partnership with MOC reflects their ongoing commitment to using their platform to give back to those in need.

With "Killing Fields" setting the tone for what could be SHINEDOWN's most electrifying era yet, and a record-breaking tour ahead, the band continues to redefine what it means to be one of the most successful rock acts in the world — by staying fearless, authentic, and powerfully human.

Listen to “Killing Fields” now on all major streaming platforms.

Perry Farrell Files Lawsuit Against Jane's Addiction Bandmates Following Onstage Altercation and Tour Cancellation - @thebeast

In a dramatic escalation of internal band tensions, Perry Farrell, frontman and co-founder of legendary alt-rock pioneers Jane's Addiction, has filed a lawsuit against his bandmates Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins—just hours after they launched legal action against him. The lawsuits stem from an onstage incident in Boston last September that ultimately led to the abrupt cancellation of the band’s much-anticipated reunion tour.

What Happened in Boston?

On September 13, 2024, during a performance at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston, tensions reportedly came to a head between Farrell and guitarist Navarro. Eyewitnesses saw Farrell bump Navarro’s shoulder mid-performance, sparking an altercation that escalated into a physical confrontation. The incident was broken up by another individual on stage, but its consequences would ripple far beyond that night.

Only days later, Jane’s Addiction announced the cancellation of the remaining tour dates. A joint statement from Navarro, Avery, and Perkins cited concerns for "a safe environment on stage" and referenced Farrell’s alleged mental health difficulties and erratic behavior as reasons for their decision.

Bandmates File First: Navarro, Avery, and Perkins Sue Farrell

According to Variety and Rolling Stone, the trio filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court on July 16, 2025, alleging:

Intentional infliction of emotional distress

Negligence

Breach of fiduciary duty

Breach of contract

Assault and battery (in Navarro’s personal claims)

The lawsuit accuses Farrell of erratic and unsafe conduct, including instances of alleged intoxication during performances. The complaint paints a picture of a band struggling to function due to Farrell’s behavior, stating:

“The Band can no longer function… including his sudden, violent outbursts and demonstrated inability to serve as the Band's frontman.”

The trio claims they suffered over $10 million in financial losses due to the canceled tour and failed record deal.

Perry Farrell Fires Back with His Own Lawsuit

Later that same day, Perry Farrell filed his own legal complaint—reportedly not a countersuit—which sharply contradicts the claims made by his bandmates. Farrell’s suit accuses Navarro, Avery, and Perkins of:

Years of bullying and harassment

Deliberate sabotage onstage by playing excessively loud to drown out Farrell’s vocals

Physical assault during and after the Boston show

Wrongfully cancelling the remainder of the tour without his input

Using him as a scapegoat for the band’s internal dysfunction

According to Farrell's complaint:

“These altercations precipitated the decision by Navarro, Avery and Perkins to both call off the rest of the band's North American tour... violating contracts and disregarding all professional obligations — and apparently break up the band for good.”

Farrell also claims that Navarro assaulted both him and his wife, Etty Lau Farrell, backstage that night—an allegation Navarro denies. Instead, Navarro’s camp alleges that Farrell “sucker punched” him unprovoked.

In a statement provided to Variety, Farrell expressed regret for the Boston incident but said he was blindsided by the cancelation and the lawsuits.

“Despite this continued bullying perpetuated by Navarro, Perry's dedication to Jane's Addiction and the preservation of its positive impact on the music industry remains unshaken.”

Fallout and the Future of Jane's Addiction

While both legal camps accuse the other of being the cause of the band’s implosion, the future of Jane’s Addiction now appears more uncertain than ever. The band, considered one of the cornerstones of the alternative rock movement, recently showed signs of a strong revival. They had released two new singles in 2024—"Imminent Redemption" and "True Love"—featuring the classic lineup of Farrell, Navarro, Avery, and Perkins.

Ironically, Imminent Redemption marked the first studio collaboration between all four members in over 30 years, signaling what fans hoped would be a lasting reunion. But with legal battles looming and personal relationships frayed, any long-term reunion now seems in jeopardy.

Navarro, who had previously missed shows due to long COVID, rejoined the band in early 2024, bringing a surge of excitement to fans. The “Spirit on Fire” tour was meant to reestablish the band’s legacy and energy. Instead, it has become a lightning rod for controversy.

For fans and observers of Jane’s Addiction, this developing story is a sobering reminder of the fine line between rock 'n' roll revival and implosion. Stay tuned for further updates as the case unfolds.

Steve 'Zetro' Souza Returns to Brazil for a Historic Thrash Metal Night Celebrating 20 Years of Tempo of the Damned - @thebeast

Credit: @raphagarcia - MHermes arts

Legendary thrash metal vocalist Steve 'Zetro' Souza , best known as the iconic voice behind Exodus, is set to deliver a unique and unforgettable show in São Paulo, Brazil, on September 14, 2025 . This special performance marks a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the classic Exodus album Tempo of the Damned (2004) and promises a historic setlist that thrash fans have never seen before.

A Personal and Selective Tour Across Latin America

Following his recent departure from Exodus, Zetro has chosen a more intimate approach for his solo career. Instead of lengthy, grueling tours, he will embark on a selective series of shows across Latin America —handpicking the band's lineup and setlist for each performance. The tour kicks off on September 4th in San José, Costa Rica, and will wrap up in São Paulo, Brazil, at the legendary Burning House venue.

Produced by Dark Dimensions , the São Paulo show is poised to be the highlight of the tour for Brazilian fans, offering a rare chance to witness the living thrash metal legend perform a career-spanning set.

A Setlist Full of Rarities and Surprises

What makes this tour truly special is the carefully curated setlist , featuring about 16 to 17 songs with many Zetro has never performed live before . The vocalist promises fans a deep dive into his extensive career, with rare tracks from his time with:

Legacy (the band that eventually evolved into Testament)

Hatriot

Unexplored Exodus material

Personal tribute songs honoring AC/DC’s Bon Scott via his project AC/DZ

Zetro guarantees that only about four songs in the setlist are familiar live staples, making this a unique live experience that transcends the usual greatest hits format.

Backed by the American Underground’s Finest

Supporting Zetro is the band Slikk Wikked , composed of seasoned musicians from the American underground metal scene:

Zakk Frye (guitar and vocals)

Kyle Smith (guitar)

Andrew Dewar (drums)

Donny "Death" Weissinger (bass)

Together, they aim to deliver a powerful 90-minute show where heavy riffs and nostalgia collide , bringing the raw energy and passion that thrash metal fans crave.

A Chance to Reconnect With Fans

Zetro has expressed that this new phase of his career is about reconnecting with fans on a more personal and direct level , free from the constraints and pressures of major tours.

“I want to play the songs that I know the fans love and have never had the chance to hear live. This tour is for them, it's out of respect for the history we've built together.” – Steve 'Zetro' Souza

This heartfelt approach underlines the tour’s intention: to create unique memories and celebrate a legacy together with those who have supported him throughout the decades.
