MOOSE CULT Unveils Playthrough Video for "Death Meditation" Ahead of Sophomore Album Release - @thebeast

Anglo-American envirometal pioneers MOOSE CULT are ramping up anticipation for their forthcoming album, Book of the Machines , with the release of a compelling playthrough video for the track "Death Meditation." The video, showcasing the band’s intricate musicianship, is now available for viewing at this link .

"Death Meditation" also marks its availability on Bandcamp, offering fans a taste of the heavy, atmospheric death/doom riffs that define the band's sound.

MOOSE CULT, a supergroup featuring members of Monsterworks, Thūn, and Bull Elephant, is set to release their sophomore album, Book of the Machines , on September 6 via Eat Lead and Die Music. The band was born out of frontman Jon’s (aka Jonny Moose) desire to channel a plethora of death/doom riffs he accumulated during and after the pandemic. Despite ongoing projects with his other bands, Jonny Moose decided to launch MOOSE CULT, adding another layer to his extensive musical endeavors.

The band’s lineup includes the steadfast brothers Hugo (aka Huge Cult) on fretless bass and James Knoerl on drums, alongside new collaborator Tommy Loose on lead guitar. The band’s self-titled debut album, released in 2023, was a raw introduction to their unique sound and is available for streaming at moosecult.bandcamp.com . The self-titled debut album also features a mission statement video, which can be viewed here .

Book of the Machines diverges slightly from the band’s original envirometal theme, drawing inspiration from Samuel Butler’s 1872 novel Erewhon . This novel’s “Book of the Machines” section is a pioneering work on machine intelligence and self-replication, serving as a thematic influence for the new album. Musically, the album maintains the death/doom/traditional vibe of the debut while evolving in its execution.

Pre-orders for Book of the Machines are now live and can be secured at moosecult.bandcamp.com/album/book-of-the-machines .

The album's track listing includes:

Erewhon

Death Meditation

Curse of Creation

Earth(l)ing

Gateway to Evolving Thought

Headless Cult

Book of the Machines

Book of the Machines boasts impressive production credits with drum production by JK Rollin’, lead guitar recorded by Sam Loose, and bass recorded by Hugo. All other guitars and vocals were recorded by Jonny Moose during his spare time, reflecting the album's personal and experimental nature. Mixing was handled by Jonathan Grenville Higgs, with mastering by Dan Swanö at Unisound, Germany. The artwork for the album was created by All4Band.com.

As MOOSE CULT prepares to release Book of the Machines , fans can look forward to an album that pushes boundaries while staying true to their death/doom roots.
