Swiss melodic gothic metal visionary Black Reuss , the one-man project of Maurizio Dottore , has been featured in Metal Injection’s weekly injection of new releases , sharing space with heavyweights like Rob Zombie, Carpenter Brut, Blackwater Drowning, Cryptic Shift, Doomsday Astronaut, Necrofier, Nothing, Unverkalt, and A Wilhelm Scream . Founded in 2025, Machine Cult Ritual is the industrial death doom brainchild of Danish composer and producer John R. Mirland , also known as Mirland. If that name rings a bell, it should. Mirland has built an international reputation in the industrial and dark ambient scenes through a steady stream of solo releases and production work. Now he turns the dial toward the abyss.

Occult Mechanics fuses crushing doom riffs, punishing drum machines, corrosive synth textures, and cavernous growls into a sound that is as mechanical as it is suffocating. It is industrial death doom done with intent, not trend chasing. Fans of Godflesh , Paradise Lost , and the Filth Pig era of Ministry will find themselves right at home in this bleak, grinding landscape.

Lyrically, the album dives headfirst into folk horror and cosmic terror, weaving tales of ancient dread and mechanical inevitability. The result feels like ritual music for a post-industrial wasteland. Cold, oppressive, and strangely hypnotic.

Mirland’s first step into metal came with the 2021 black metal mini album Liv Uden Liv , released under the name Udpint. With Machine Cult Ritual, he pulls together every thread from his past work, from extreme metal to dark ambient to industrial noise, and forges it into something cohesive and unapologetically heavy.

Produced and mastered by Mirland himself, Occult Mechanics is not a side project. It is a statement. Precision engineered despair with weight behind every note.

Beyond the Lucid Passage emerges as a transitional single connecting Primordial Movements with the band’s current creative trajectory. Originally recorded during the album sessions, the track was reworked and remixed by Przemysław Nowak at Impressive-Art Studio to reflect Lilla Veneda’s evolving sonic identity. The single combines modern, rhythm-driven riffs with intense vocals and dense production, while retaining the signature melodic structures that define the band. Lyrically, it delves into inner transformation, consciousness, and humanity’s confrontation with the unknown. The cover artwork, reinterpreted from Primordial Movements by Anna Sobczak, reinforces the conceptual link between the releases.

Meanwhile, Biomechanical Algorithm (Synthwave Version) reimagines one of Lilla Veneda’s standout tracks through a retro-futuristic lens. Wojciech Flumen Kostrzewa’s synth-driven reinterpretation, produced by Przemysław Nowak, immerses Antris’ original guitar melodies in lush analog synths, hypnotic rhythms, and spacious pads. Pagan Records is set to unleash a piece of Hellenic black metal history with a limited 2026 reissue of Yoth Iria’s seminal debut, As The Flame Withers . Originally released in 2021, this album marked a resurgence of the dark, occult spirit that defined ’90s Greek extreme metal, and now it’s back in a definitive collector’s edition.

This edition is strictly limited to 300 copies and pressed on 12” 180g smoked splatter vinyl, complete with a deluxe gatefold sleeve and printed insert, making it a must-have for collectors and fans of the scene. The recording, engineered at Pentagram Studio with George Emmanuel (Rotting Christ, Septicflesh, Lucifer’s Child), captures the full diabolical majesty of the album, while Harnasash Singh’s cover art seals the visual intensity.

Yoth Iria is the brainchild of two of Greek black metal’s most influential figures: Jim Mutilator, a founding member of both Rotting Christ and Varathron, and The Magus, mastermind of Necromantia and ex-Rotting Christ. Their collaboration on As The Flame Withers blends centuries-old Hellenic occult sensibilities with a forward-looking vision, producing music that is simultaneously ritualistic, crushing, and epic in scope.

Jim Mutilator’s history reads like a blueprint of Greek black metal: from the genre-defining Thy Mighty Contract with Rotting Christ to the swampy, dark atmospheres of Varathron’s His Majesty at the Swamp . The Magus’s work with Necromantia and contributions to Thou Art Lord and Rotting Christ helped define the sound that Yoth Iria channels so fully on this record.

Since The Magus’s departure in 2023, Jim Mutilator has steered Yoth Iria into a bold new era. Their sophomore album, Blazing Inferno (2024, Edged Circle Productions), introduced the haunting vocals of Rustam Shakirzyanov (aka “He”) and earned critical acclaim. Momentum continues as the band has recently signed with Metal Blade Records and is already in the studio crafting their third full-length, slated for Spring 2026.

Fans can also experience Yoth Iria live in 2026, with a European run that includes a confirmed appearance at Poland’s Mystic Festival.
