My Misspent Youth Unveil Bold New Chapter with Single “The Bigger Lie” – Out October 31st

Bergen, Norway – October 29, 2025 – Alternative rock veterans My Misspent Youth are back, proving that sometimes the most misspent youth leads to the most meaningful music. Their long-awaited new single, “The Bigger Lie” , drops October 31st via Indieco Records , marking a striking evolution in the band’s sound and lineup.

Rising from the ashes of earlier projects like Twigs, Paynbird, Spring Jester, and Side Effects, My Misspent Youth first made waves with their 2006 EP Six Point Eight and a track on the Bergen Rock City Vol. 2 sampler, which reached 10,000 listeners in China via October Party Records. Their 2012 album Colours Gone Cold cemented their status as a band unafraid of long creative pauses.

With “The Bigger Lie” , the band embraces a bold new direction. Founding member Finn Solemdal expands his role, handling both guitar and bass, while collaborating with session drummer and co-producer Iver Sandøy . For the first time, Bjørn Grung steps in as the band’s male lead vocalist, a dynamic shift after years of female-fronted releases. Solemdal and Grung share a deep musical history, having played together in the 90s band Loophead, bringing a seasoned chemistry to this fresh chapter.

Recorded at Solslottet Studio in Bergen, “The Bigger Lie” blends the band’s signature raw energy with melodic depth and a new vocal twist that’s impossible to ignore. Fans of Sugar, early Swervedriver, and The Cult will find plenty to sink their ears into.

“This track is about honesty, reckoning, and embracing who we are after years of finding our way,” says Solemdal. “Sometimes the lies we tell ourselves are bigger than we realize, and that’s exactly what we’re exploring here.”

The Bigger Lie is available everywhere October 31st , through Indieco Records.

Idol Throne is set to strike with their latest creation, the “Harbinger of Light EP” , dropping Friday, December 5, 2025. This 3-track, 18-minute powerhouse delivers the band’s signature blend of power, progressive, and thrash metal , a sound that has been honed over seven years of relentless writing and performing. Fans of Symphony X, Heathen, and Fate’s Warning are in for a treat.

The EP is produced by co-founders Martin Bowman and Jason Schultz , mixed and mastered by Pete Grossmann at Bricktop Studios (Chicago, IL) , with artwork by longtime collaborator Mark Erskine of Erskine Designs .

From the blistering technical/progressive thrash of opener “Death and the Viper’s Tongue” to the arena-ready groove and golden-era storytelling of “Spellbound Eyes” , and closing with the melodic, hook-laden title track “Harbinger of Light” , the EP showcases a band unafraid to push boundaries while staying true to their core sound.

The release also marks the first recorded output with bassist Kyle Ludovice , who joined Idol Throne in 2024, adding a new dimension to the band’s already crushing live performances. Co-founder Jason Schultz shares, “These songs are a ton of fun. I feel like we’ve finally come close to capturing the sound in our heads. Can’t wait for fans to hear it.”

Co-founder and multi-instrumentalist Martin Bowman adds, “Being a shorter release allowed us to experiment with production and styles for the next full-length. I couldn’t be happier with the results.” Vocalist Jake Quintanilla and drummer Aaron Grove echo this enthusiasm: “Each track has its own vibe while staying true to the Idol Throne sound. Lelystad, Netherlands – Dutch rock/nu-metal duo Neverskin are back in full force with their latest single “Piece of Min” , dropping Friday, October 31st, 2025 . The release follows their powerful comeback track “Snatched” , which reintroduced the band after a twenty-year break and proved that time hasn’t dulled their edge—it’s sharpened it.

Formed by longtime friends Remy and Clint , Neverskin rose from the ashes of their early 2000s band Ambiossis , a project that ended nearly two decades ago. The reunion came out of nowhere, sparked by a strange twist of fate.

“I was jogging and one of our old Ambiossis songs started playing—even though we never uploaded it anywhere,” says Clint in an interview with Volecho Magazine . “I took it as a sign, messaged Remy, and before we knew it, we had a new song written and recorded within a week. It all came together naturally.”

That song became “Snatched” —a raw, groove-driven blast of emotion that nods to the early 2000s nu-metal scene while keeping things authentic and current. “It reminded us of the old-school nu-metal we grew up with,” Remy told Volecho . “Grooves that make your head bop and give you the urge to run through the streets for no reason at all. It just felt right.”

Their next single, “Piece of Min” , dives even deeper. It builds on the emotional charge of “Snatched” , delivering heavy riffs, rap-infused verses, and big, soaring hooks. True to Neverskin’s style, it’s as personal as it is powerful.

Recording everything from their home studios in Lelystad , the band thrives on independence and self-sufficiency. “With today’s plugins and gear, there’s no need to sit in an expensive studio,” Remy explains. “Recording at home gives us freedom. No time pressure. No limits.”

And that word— freedom —defines Neverskin. When asked to sum up their music, Clint told Volecho , “Emotional. Free. Expressive. We make what we feel. Could be this now, could be something completely different later.”

After “Piece of Min” , the band is letting things unfold naturally. “We’re just seeing where this takes us,” Clint adds. “We might go live, record an EP, or just keep it raw and simple. Let’s see how people respond.”

When I got Paul Zavaleta on the line for a chat, the man was literally in the middle of packing orders for the band’s new album Awakening . “We’re working around the clock,” Paul said with a laugh. “We were already 75% sold out on pre-orders three weeks before the release date. It’s crazy, man. We can’t afford to press five thousand CDs at once, so we do small runs — and they go fast.”

It’s about doing what we love, and the people who get it — they really get it.”

October 2025 — The extreme metal community is being called to rally behind one of its own. Serge Streltsov , founder and frontman of Selfgod (ex-Necrophagia), recently suffered a devastating apartment fire that destroyed nearly everything he owned. Serge made it out alive, but his home and possessions—including his music gear, personal memorabilia, and lifelong collection of horror and metal treasures—were lost to smoke, fire, and water damage.

A GoFundMe has been launched by his girlfriend, Sara, to help Serge recover from the loss and rebuild his life. Every dollar donated goes directly toward essentials, cleaning, and recovery costs, giving him a foundation to move forward after this tragedy.

“Serge’s apartment caught fire while he was asleep less than ten feet from where the blaze started,” Sara wrote. “He escaped with nothing but a T-shirt, jeans, and socks. His home was declared a Major Fire Loss by the Red Cross. We’re taking it one step at a time, doing everything we can to move forward and rebuild some sense of normalcy.”

This tragedy comes just as Serge prepares to release Selfgod’s new album, Left Hand Pagan , dropping October 31, 2025 via Veles Records . The timing couldn’t be more bittersweet: an artist rising to new creative heights now faces the hardest fight of his life outside the studio.
