Sabaton's Pär Launches Kickstarter for Lord Of Metal Game - @thebeast
Pär Sundström, bassist for heavy metal band Sabaton has finally launched the Kickstarter campaign for his new game, Lord of Metal. The campaign has smashed every target so far, with 2,139 backers. While the game is in development, Sabaton as always is busy touring the world, with a European tour just announced with a full orchestra accompanying them.
What We Know about Lord of Metal
Lord of Metal allows you to get under the hood of the heavy metal music industry. You will be responsible for booking bands, landing sponsors, building festivals, and ultimately, making decisions that have a huge impact. With mechanics that are based on real music industry experience, you can enjoy stories and complex mechanics that are brought to you by the pros. In the game, you will need to start small, growing your festivals and bands by embarking on tours and planning stage shows. You will be solely responsible for bringing color to a dystopian world that the Grey has taken over, making this a must-have game for heavy metal music fans.
Although we have a rough idea of what features the game is set to include, it’s certainly interesting to see where things could go from here. Heavy metal music fans have thrown their support behind Pär’s project , meaning interesting and unique features could be on the horizon. As the game revolves around gigs and concerts, integrating a multiplayer experience could make it even more interesting for fans later down the line.
Having virtual shows that people put together, and that take place in real-time, could be a great mechanic. People could pay a virtual ticket price to access the show, with the funds going directly to the organizer to fund future projects. Features like this would essentially work in the same way as live bingo games with events that take place in real-time . In bingo, people join a lobby at the advertised time, with some tickets being cheaper than others, like with 2p Tuesday or Bargain Bingo, where all tickets are 5p or less. In live bingo, some games have bigger rewards than others, including jackpots.
Games like Lord of Metal can take from this, offering people who buy a ticket the chance to win free virtual merch or bonuses for their festivals, showing how far-reaching the concept could be. Integrating a real-time format would also make the game feel as though it’s more in line with going to a concert in real life, which would elevate the experience.
A Bold Venture from Sundström
Sundström’s venture into gaming is daring, but he’s certainly got the experience to make it work. Sabaton has dominated the heavy metal scene for quite some time, with albums including Primo Victoria, released in 2005 to War to End All Wars, their most ambitious project to date. War to End All Wars was released in 2022 and featured artists including Floor Jansen, from Nightwish. It was also their last album to feature guitarist Tommy Johansson , who has since departed to focus on his other projects, including Majestica.
With Sabaton set to headline their biggest shows to date in the UK, a fully-fledged European tour, and Sundström’s new project, it seems the band is on track to take the metal scene by storm, and fans are all here for it.

Pestilence’s Patrick Mameli Defends AI Album Art Amid Ongoing Backlash: "Embrace the Future of Music" - @thebeast
Image Link: Metal Injection
Dutch progressive death metal band Pestilence is once again at the forefront of a heated debate, months after announcing their career-spanning retrospective album, Levels of Perception, in March 2024. While the music itself was celebrated for capturing the band’s 38-year legacy, the focus shifted to the album’s cover art, which was created using artificial intelligence (AI). The choice drew mixed reactions from fans and critics, with some praising the innovation and others criticizing it as a departure from traditional artistry.
The initial backlash led to a significant pivot. Frontman Patrick Mameli announced new artwork for the release but stood by the original AI-generated design, describing it as a bold choice. In a statement at the time, he explained, "We care a lot about our fans, and we do not want this product not to be a success just because we want to push our ideas regarding AI." However, the decision to replace the artwork did little to quell the conversation surrounding AI in music and art.
(December 29th), Mameli addressed the controversy again in a candid post on Pestilence’s Facebook page, delivering a detailed defense of AI-generated art. He framed the technology as a practical solution for modern bands operating within limited budgets, stating, "Huge budgets for real paintings are a thing of the past. Secondly, the idea of having mutilated bodies, zombies, and extreme gore are also a thing of the past for Pestilence."
Mameli went on to highlight the role of adaptation in the evolving music industry, asserting that Pestilence has always aimed to innovate rather than adhere to traditional expectations. "When you want to survive in the nowadays industry, you have to adapt," he wrote. "Pestilence has always been known to look ahead and never fall back into old habits, not just musically but in every aspect of our releases."
The Facebook post also touched on fan expectations, particularly around the production of Levels of Perception. Mameli explained that the album revisited demo-style recording techniques requested by fans, but the response was divided. "Ironically, those same fans criticized the production they had initially requested," he noted.
The debate over AI-generated art is part of a broader cultural discussion, as digital tools become increasingly integrated into the creative process. Mameli posed a thought-provoking question to fans: "Would you not buy an album with killer production and songs just because the cover is AI? Then you are not listening to our compositions that are fully handmade, but rather are concerned with the 40× past you have been living in."
As the conversation continues, Pestilence’s decision to engage directly with fans highlights the complexity of navigating artistic innovation in a traditionalist genre. Whether viewed as a bold step forward or a controversial departure, the discussion surrounding AI art underscores its growing presence in the music world.

NEVERMORE Drama Erupts: Founding Member Jim Sheppard Blasts Band’s Resurrection Plans as 'Disrespectful'! - @thebeast
In a dramatic turn of events, Jim Sheppard, founding bassist of the iconic progressive metal band NEVERMORE, has expressed his discontent with guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams over their apparent decision to revive the band without consulting him. Sheppard called their actions “completely disrespectful” following the release of a teaser video titled "Resurrecting The Dream" on December 27.
The video, posted by Loomis and Williams, features NEVERMORE-related imagery and silhouettes presumed to represent the two musicians, accompanied by the text “A New Chapter Rises” and the year 2025.
Two days later, Sheppard’s wife, Priscila, addressed the situation in a statement on Facebook, clarifying Jim’s absence from the project:
“James has never been contacted about Van's plans with Jeff using the NEVERMORE name. I am sorry you think James is involved. We do not know about their plans, and it is completely disrespectful of them to use the name NEVERMORE without consulting Jim Sheppard, as he is one of the founders of the band.
“We are waiting for clarification on this alleged project and will proceed from there, whether or not clarification comes from them. No further comment for now. Thank you.”
The Legacy of NEVERMORE
NEVERMORE, formed in 1991, split in 2011 following Loomis and Williams’s departure, citing personal differences with Sheppard and vocalist Warrel Dane. The band’s distinctive sound, marked by intricate guitar work and haunting lyrics, left an indelible mark on the metal scene.
Dane, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 56 while working on his solo album Shadow Work, was known for his powerful vocals and poignant lyrics. His struggles with alcoholism and health issues had long been public knowledge. Dane’s death marked the end of any hopes for a reunion of the classic NEVERMORE lineup.
In past interviews, Loomis had dismissed the idea of reviving NEVERMORE without Dane, stating, “Without Warrel, it’s just not feasible.” However, the teaser suggests that Loomis and Williams may have changed their stance, though the specifics of their plans remain unclear.
Jim Sheppard's Position
As a founding member, Sheppard’s exclusion from the project has sparked criticism. His wife’s statement highlights the lack of communication and respect shown by Loomis and Williams in proceeding without his involvement. For fans, this raises questions about authenticity and the ethical considerations of reviving a band with such a storied history.
Moving Forward
While the teaser has sparked intrigue and debate, it remains to be seen how Loomis and Williams will navigate the controversy surrounding their plans for NEVERMORE. The band’s legacy, shaped by its original members and their collective artistry, remains a cornerstone of metal history.
As the situation unfolds, fans will be watching closely to see how this "new chapter" aligns with NEVERMORE’s enduring reputation and whether it honors the spirit of the band’s remarkable past.

Venom Inc. Welcomes Curran Murphy From 72 Legions as Official Guitarist! - @thebeast

Venom Inc. Welcomes Curran Murphy From 72 Legions as Official Guitarist!
Venom Inc. has officially filled the gap left by guitarist Jeff “Mantas” Dunn, who recently stepped back from the band earlier this month. Taking up the mantle is Curran Murphy, renowned for his work with Nevermore and Annihilator. Murphy, who made his live debut with Venom Inc. back in May, has now been formally announced as the band's new guitarist.
The news was shared during an interview with Murphy on Laughingmonkeymusic (transcribed by Blabbermouth), where he expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity:
"Officially, with Mantas saying that he’s taking a step back or stepping out, [Venom Inc. bassist/vocalist] Tony [‘Demolition Man’ Dolan] has offered me the position to play guitar for Venom Inc. And I have gleefully accepted.
“This last year has been awesome, all the shows traveling the world with Tony and [drummer Marc] Jackson, and playing these shows and working my ass off to play the stuff right, to play it as close to the record or, in some instances, to play it as close as how Mantas would play it live, to pay that respect. Tony has asked me to join the band. So I’m absolutely overwhelmed and thrilled to announce that I am the lead guitar player for Venom Inc. It’s wonderful.”
Murphy's addition to the lineup means Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan remains the sole connection to Venom’s legacy within Venom Inc.
As a client of Metal Devastation PR, we are incredibly proud of Curran Murphy and this milestone in his career. We’ve had the privilege of promoting his side band, 72 Legions, and can attest to his immense talent and dedication to the craft. This new role with Venom Inc. is a well-earned achievement, and we are excited to see what Curran brings to the band’s legacy. Congratulations, Curran!

6 Fresh Habits for 2025 That Elevate Your Mental Health - @thebeast
Photo Creedit: Gantas Vaičiulėnas
As you probably know at this point, the start of a new year comes with that familiar buzz of optimism, doesn’t it? A blank slate, fresh goals, and all the Pinterest-worthy ideas to "be your best self." But by mid-January, the gym memberships are forgotten, and the pressure to stick to big resolutions leaves most people stressed out rather than thriving.
But here’s something to remember; improving mental health doesn’t have to mean grand gestures. Technically, if you think about it, it’s the same for physical health too. So, the most effective changes often come from overlooked, subtle shifts in daily habits.
These aren’t your typical “meditate more” or “get enough sleep” tips. Instead, think of them as little “mental hacks” to make 2025 the year you truly feel better, with no overwhelm required (as small changes are always the best ways to go for long-term improvement).
Use Devices With Intention
For starters, phones and tablets often get blamed for wrecking mental health, but they’re not the villains they’re made out to be. It’s how they’re used that matters. For example, if you’re just endlessly scrolling through negative news or comparing your life to influencers on Instagram? Well, of course, you’re going to feel bad, and this definitely not helping when it comes to better mental health. But your device can actually support your mental health when used with purpose.
For example, a game like Solitaire on your personal device offers a calming escape without the mental overload of social media. Most people go on social media for that little hit of satisfaction, but small mindful games here and there can go that too. But even beyond games, you can think about downloading apps that inspire creativity, help you track gratitude, or teach something new. Plus, technology isn’t the enemy, using it without intention is.
Try "Micro-Journaling"
Journaling always sounds like a great idea until it feels like homework, right? Well, writing page after page of reflections can feel overwhelming, but you don’t even have to do that if you don’t want to. Some people just do micro-journaling, and yeah, it helps.
Basically, each day, jot down just one word, sentence, or feeling. It could be something like “Grateful for sunshine” or “Enjoyed a quiet coffee.” But there’s no pressure to be profound, this is about noticing the small, good moments that often get lost in the shuffle. Over time, these tiny reflections build a treasure trove of positivity, showing that even on tough days, there are things worth smiling about.
Turn Transitions into Mental Health Moments
Okay, now this one might sound off, but just bear with it! So, most people overlook the in-between parts of their day. Those little transitions, like getting out of bed, driving to work, or preparing dinner, often happen on autopilot. But these moments can become opportunities to ground yourself.
Ideally, you should! So, just take three slow breaths before stepping into a meeting, savoring the sound of running water while washing your hands, or noticing the colors outside during a commute. But why bother? Well, these tiny mindfulness breaks can completely change your day.
Just Learn to Love Doing Nothing
Sure, it can definitely be agreed that society loves to celebrate productivity, but constantly being busy isn’t sustainable. But doing nothing, and actually enjoying it, is one of the most overlooked habits for better mental health. No, seriously, this does get overlooked!
Just think of it this way; some unstructured time allows the brain to wander, recharge, and get creative. You’ve done nothing before plenty of times, like laying in bed and staring at the ceiling, looking out the window, drinking some tea on the sofa. Just do that, don’t multi-task.
Build a Personal "Mood Playlist"
Music is powerful, but too often it’s just background noise. So, instead, create a playlist tailored to shift your mood when you need it. Include calming tracks for anxiety-filled moments, nostalgic songs that bring comfort, and upbeat hits that make you feel unstoppable.
Practice Kindness Toward Yourself
Actually, for a lot of people, this is going to be the hardest of them all. Nowadays, there’s this push to be mean to yourself, and be hard on yourself for not being perfect. Overall, self-talk is sneaky. Those little comments you make about yourself throughout the day, “Why did I mess that up?” or “I’ll never get this right”—add up. Instead of critiquing every mistake, approach yourself with curiosity and kindness.
Now, here’s an example, instead of “Why am I so bad at this?” try “What could I learn from this?” It’s not about toxic positivity or ignoring challenges. It’s about treating yourself like you would a good friend . with patience and understanding.

The Power of the Drop: Perfecting Low-End Dynamics in Heavy Tracks - @thebeast
There’s nothing quite like the electrifying rush of a perfectly executed drop in a heavy track. Whether it’s the seismic breakdown in a metalcore anthem or the gut-punching bass of a dubstep drop, these moments captivate fans and define genres. Creating these sonic moments is both an art and a science. By mastering low-end dynamics and utilizing cutting-edge tools like AI chord progression generators, producers can craft breakdowns that leave a lasting impact. This article explores the techniques and strategies needed to design crushing drops that resonate deeply with listeners.
The Anatomy of a Crushing Drop
A great drop is built on three essential pillars: contrast, anticipation, and impact.
Contrast : The transition from a quieter buildup to a powerful drop creates a dramatic effect that grabs attention.
Anticipation : Tension builds through rhythmic pauses, pitch changes, or atmospheric effects, keeping listeners on edge.
Impact : The drop delivers on this buildup with bass-heavy frequencies, sharp percussion, and dynamic layering.
Low-end dynamics form the backbone of memorable drops. Bass frequencies need to be powerful but controlled, creating a foundation that supports the track’s energy. Iconic drops from songs like Skrillex’s Bangarang or the explosive breakdowns in Bring Me the Horizon’s Can You Feel My Heart exemplify how these elements come together.
Building a Foundation: Crafting Chord Progressions and Basslines
The foundation of any great drop starts with well-crafted chord progressions and basslines.
Using AI Chord Progression Generators : A tool like an AI chord progression generator inspires innovative harmonic ideas, allowing producers to experiment with unconventional progressions for their breakdowns.
Generate Chord Progressions for Bass-Driven Sections : Simpler progressions often work best, as they allow basslines to shine without overwhelming the mix.
Music Theory for the Low-End : Scales and modes like Phrygian or Locrian add tension, while intervals such as diminished fifths can create dissonance and power.
Combining these elements ensures that the harmonic backbone of a drop is solid, setting the stage for impactful basslines.
Essential Tools for Producing Heavy Drops
The modern producer’s arsenal is packed with tools designed to simplify and elevate the creative process:
Full Suite Production Tools : DAWs like FL Studio and Ableton Live provide comprehensive features for arranging, sound design, and mixing. Their intuitive interfaces allow producers to experiment freely.
Free Music Tools for Beginners : Platforms like BandLab and Tracktion Waveform make professional-quality production accessible to new producers and these free music tools do it without breaking the bank.
Piano Roll Precision : The piano roll in FL Studio is invaluable for designing sub-bass melodies that sync perfectly with kick drums, ensuring precision in every note.
These tools empower producers to create high-quality drops, regardless of their experience level.
Crafting Bass Tones and Layers
Bass is the heart of any heavy drop, and crafting it requires a combination of creativity and technical skill.
Designing Sub-Bass for Impact : Start with a clean sine wave for the sub-bass, ensuring it’s strong but doesn’t muddy the mix.
Layering for Depth : Combine sub-bass with mid-bass and distorted layers to create a full, dynamic low-end. This layering adds richness and complexity to the sound.
Audio Files and Samples : Royalty-free bass samples can be customized to match the tone of your track. Editing these samples adds a personal touch and ensures they fit seamlessly into your mix.
The goal is to strike a balance between power and clarity, ensuring that the bass enhances the drop without overwhelming other elements.
Enhancing Dynamics and Movement
To keep drops engaging, producers must create dynamic shifts and rhythmic variations.
Automation for Energy Shifts : Use automation to control parameters like volume, filter sweeps, and effects. Gradual increases in cutoff frequency, for example, build tension before the drop.
Sidechaining and Compression : Sidechain compression ensures the kick and bass don’t clash, allowing both elements to stand out clearly.
Creative Flow and Rhythmic Variation : Experiment with syncopation and offbeat rhythms to keep the drop feeling fresh and unexpected.
These techniques add movement to the music, keeping listeners hooked from start to finish.
Advanced Sound Design for Low-End Power
For producers looking to push boundaries, advanced sound design techniques are key.
Synthesis Techniques : Tools like Serum and Massive allow for the creation of unique bass sounds, from growling tones to wobbling basslines.
Distortion and Saturation : Adding harmonic content through distortion or saturation makes basslines feel more aggressive and present.
Resampling for Textures : By resampling and manipulating bass sounds, producers can create gritty, unconventional layers that stand out in a mix.
These techniques ensure that each drop has a distinct sonic identity, setting it apart from the crowd.
Mastering Tools for Polished Drops
A polished mix is essential for making drops hit as hard as possible.
EQ for Clarity : Use equalization to carve out space for the bass frequencies, ensuring they don’t clash with mids and highs.
Limiter and Maximizer Use : These tools help achieve loudness without introducing distortion, making the drop sound powerful across all playback systems.
Professional Producers’ Insights : Seasoned producers often recommend mixing at lower volumes to ensure balance and using reference tracks to guide their mastering decisions.
By focusing on these details, producers can elevate their drops to professional standards.
Integrating Drops into Your Creative Process
Crafting a powerful drop requires iteration and analysis.
All the Tools at Your Disposal : Use a mix of free and premium tools to streamline your workflow and avoid creative bottlenecks.
Iterative Approach to Drops : Experiment with multiple versions of your drop, tweaking elements like basslines, kick patterns, and effects.
Favorite Songs as Inspiration : Break down drops in your favorite tracks to understand their structure and adapt similar techniques to your own music.
Incorporating these practices into your creative process will ensure your drops are both impactful and unique.
Predictions for the Future of Low-End Design
As technology evolves, so too will the art of crafting low-end dynamics:
AI in Sound Design : AI-powered tools will continue to enhance low-end dynamics, making it easier for producers to create impactful basslines and drops.
Evolving Bass Genres : Trends in genres like trap, dubstep, and bass house will influence how producers approach breakdowns and low-end design.
Blurring Genre Lines : The integration of heavy bass and drops into hybrid genres like future bass and EDM-rock will expand the possibilities for low-end dynamics.
These advancements will inspire a new generation of producers to push creative boundaries.
In Conclusion
Perfecting low-end dynamics is essential for creating memorable drops that captivate listeners. By leveraging tools like AI chord progression generators, advanced DAWs, and mastering software, producers can craft bass-heavy sections that resonate with fans. The art of the drop lies in balancing technical precision with creative experimentation, ensuring each track delivers a powerful emotional impact. Aspiring and seasoned producers alike are encouraged to explore these techniques, pushing the boundaries of heavy track production to new heights. The future of drops is bright—dive in and make your mark.

Release Date: November 15th, 2024 via AKO-LITE RECORDS
“With a flair for the futuristic and a nod to the past, STAHV blends sci-fi with swagger, creating something that’s both familiar and entirely alien. A love letter to the weird and the wired, Sentiens Eklektikos is a trip worth taking.” – Post-Punk.com

It had a synthesized voice and emphasized words in a very charming way—it couldn't quite pronounce the ‘g’ in bagel.”

About:
Wacken Metal Battle Canada is part of an international competition that sees bands from across the country battle each other for the chance to win their spot among 30 other countries’ champions, and represent Canada in an international battle of the bands at the world’s largest outdoor metal festival: Wacken Open Air. Hanibal Death Machine Unveils Éclipse Anthropocène – A Dark Metal Journey into the Sixth Extinction Album Out Now - Available Exclusively Through Online Store - @thebeast
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hanibal Death Machine Unveils Éclipse Anthropocène – A Dark Metal Journey into the Sixth Extinction - Album Out Now - Available Exclusively Through Online Store
France – Prepare for an apocalyptic sonic journey as Hanibal Death Machine releases their much-anticipated new album, Éclipse Anthropocène, on November 30, 2024. This dark metal masterpiece delves deep into the foreboding concept of humanity's impending extinction, intertwining the cries of a dying nature with the anguished roars of metal. The album is available exclusively for purchase from the band’s online store, and will not be offered for free streaming on any download platforms.
Éclipse Anthropocène is not just an album; it is a dire reflection of the current state of our planet and a stark warning of the future we may face. With haunting melodies and crushing riffs, the album explores the dark recesses of the Anthropocene era, the time in which humans have irrevocably altered the course of nature. The narrative of the album echoes the destruction and despair surrounding us, yet leaves space for a glimmer of hope amid the apocalyptic setting.
For fans of Paradise Lost, Moonspell, and Rotting Christ, Éclipse Anthropocène offers an immersive experience that blends heavy, melancholic metal with dark, atmospheric elements. With lyrics and music soaked in themes of environmental collapse, existential dread, and a world on the brink of ruin, the album speaks to the fragility of life and the responsibility we carry to the planet.
Tracklist:
Le Point de non retour
Ere de l'homme moderne
Planète bleue
Agonia
Dernière chance
El horror
Mon Cadavre
Stupid

It reminds us that, even in the face of overwhelming destruction, the smallest spark of hope may still persist.
Important: Éclipse Anthropocène will not be available on any streaming or download platforms. Fans can exclusively order the album through the Hanibal Death Machine online store:
