“Virgin Idol was started in summer of 2020 in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic by guitarist Scott Michaels and vocalist JR Preston. JR and Scott met while performing as session members for US black metal legends, Lord of Depression. JR is known for his black metal bands Blood Cult, Tjolgtjar, and Xexyz. Scott is known for his past accomplishments with black metal band Forest of Witchery featuring drummer Kevin Talley (dying fetus/suffocation/Napalm death) on 2017 release. In October of 2020, Scott and JR attracted the attention of drummer Chris Reed from UK punk/glam outfit, New Generation Superstars - known for their outrageous stage shows and performances, while receiving shoutouts from Kerrang Magazine and Bruce Dickinson from his BBC radio show, touring with legends like Saxon, twisted sister, LA Guns, Vain, etc. Virgin Idol was started out of a love and passion for traditional heavy metal, 80s metal, and thrash metal. In October of 2021, Virgin Idol finalized their debut album with mastering completion taking place in February.”

Danish modern rock outfit J.S.P. have released a new single on streaming services and a YouTube video on the 29th of April 2022.
The duo met through their involvement with Danish prog/symfo veterans ROYAL HUNT: Jacob Kjaer (guitar) has been a member of the band from 1993 to 2003 and Alexandra Andersen (vocals) is still providing backing vocals for the band in the studio and on the road.
Kjaer´s masterfully arranged contemporary rock tunes filled with pop sensibilities go hand-in-hand with Alexandra´s melodic yet powerful vocal delivery. Their first single/video “One in a Million” demonstrates the duo´s potential to gain a large following with their unique blend of dynamic rock performance combined with a strong commercial appeal.

Being responsible for all instruments and vocals, as well as production, the musician takes no prisoners with his acid lyrics on social and philosophical matters.
Riding the Winds of Death was recorded at Dual Noise Studios in São Paulo/Brazil.

The Circle Pit Presents Anachronistic’s Hilarious True Story In “700 And 19 Ways Of Decay” - @thebeast
Anachronistic is the product of two ex-pats joining forces to create something truly unique, a heavy black metal sound, but overlaid with hardcore vocals. Armed with a vision, lyrics, and a long list of influences, American vocalist Matt Ramarge approached Ukrainian songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Umarlak to breathe life into the project. They released their debut EP “700 And 19 Ways Of Decay” last month and it can be streamed in its entirety over at The Circle Pit at
They explain the album in their own words:
“We tried to encapsulate a dark and raw merging of genres with this band. The vision behind Anachronistic’s initial trilogy LP release is to get people hooked on the concept and leave fans waiting for the next chapter to come out. Sonically and emotionally this album is really fun to listen to from a “bird’s eye viewpoint”. Once fans dig deeper into the song lyrics and album cover they will realize this is a true, hilarious story that will continue through 2 more releases, getting darker, heavier, and nastier with each release. Even as a standalone release, “700 and 19 Ways of Decay” will stand strong amongst fans of black metal and hardcore.”
The premise of the album centers a lot around Matt’s life experiences and incorporates elements from his job; initially, it was intended to be a spoken word project, but it morphed into a unique, tongue-in-cheek band that is serious about heavy riffs and energetic vocals. 700-19 is the actual contract paperwork for working in Korea as a US contractor, the album art, done by Adi Dechristianize, features Matt’s actual office with his persona Major Skinnis coming out of the monitor. This is the first chapter in a hilarious true story that will span three albums, the next is already underway.
Blackened hardcore is an interesting new twist on the parent genres. It has the technical power of black metal, mixed with hardcore energy that inspires headbanging, moshing, and stage diving. Anachronistic is recommended for metalheads and non-metalheads alike, anyone who is looking for something unique and raw.
Fans of Blood For Blood, Hatebreed, and Behemoth should definitely take note.

TORONTO — April 26, 2022 — The festival with a capital ’N’, as in Next to discover the best bands before they break through is back; North by Northeast (NXNE) is officially starting to unveil its 2022 plans right as the sun starts to warm our souls.
Taking place in the nation’s entertainment mecca that is Toronto, Canada’s quintessential annual cultural explosion featuring music and more is set to span June 14th - 19th and feature more than 300 of the world's best artists of today — and tomorrow.
Case in point? NXNE had Grimes, Lumineers, Daniel Caesar, Run The Jewels, The Weather Station, Sarah Harmer, Metz, Sarah Harmer, the Arkells, Sam Roberts, Lizzo, Future Islands, Vince Staples, Billy Talent, Post Malone, Feist, and thousands more on stages as part of the festival… All before they became household names.
“We’re back and taking over more than 20 of Toronto’s top live music venues,” NXNE Founder and President Michael Hollett reveals. “We want to make it very easy for people to come back to live music and experience stage-hopping like festivals used to be.”
NXNE makes great music accessible and inclusive to all, no artists are asked to pay to apply to play, all performers are paid, and admission to Club Shows in 2022 is low cost or free.
A preview of the forthcoming roster will be announced on May 4th, and passes are available for sale today, Tuesday, April 26.
Speaking of which, full festival five-day passes are $20 — an inflation-defying $9.99 less than they were in 1995 when NXNE launched. “That’s actually cheaper than when it first started,” Hollett notes. “Especially given the pummelling the live music scene has taken over the last two years, we committed to removing financial barriers to NXNE to best connect artists with audiences; even for artists, it’s free to submit and they get paid to play.
“We have had an incredible response to our submission process and can’t wait to present these great acts to the world,” Hollett continues. “It’s time to experience live music again – and listen to the future at NXNE.”
The festival is committed to gender equity and BIPOC representation boasting a diverse line up that reflects the festival’s core theme “Talent is Everywhere.”

With the second EP of the Leipzig duo Per Lümbersson and Meta List I let myself be carried away into the world of Māori. Above all, Wairua, the non-physical immortal spirit of the Tangata Whenua, a people of New Zealand, hovers over everything. An interesting basis for the first five tracks (tracks 6-8 as bonus tracks from the previous EP "Dialogue With The Unconscious"), because there are worlds between melodic death metal and Māori mythology in the truest sense of the word. Or is it?
"A World Beyond" now opens the door to this distant world with instrumental sounds. Already the cover gives a glimpse into the realm of Tāne, the god of the forest and birds.
And it has become a varied death metal journey through the songs. Sometimes mystical, sometimes melodic, and when these mighty growls begin, it is like a homage to Tāwhiri, the god of storm and wind, and a gloomy black atmosphere spreads. I especially like the coordination between the vocals and the instrumental parts. It also gives the songs a special expressiveness and underlines the magic that emanates from this unique culture. I can now also confirm that Melodic Death Metal and the Māori people can be wonderfully reconciled with their gods.
Even if the three bonus tracks come from another album, they form a nice conclusion to the "Wairua concept" and prolong the listening pleasure of a successful slice.

This Two Man Army was launched in 2020. At a time that confronts us with uncertainties and restrictions on various levels, it’s time to bundle creative energies and put a long-awaited wish into practice.
The new EP is called WAIRUA and contains five new songs including three older bonus tracks. In the world of the Tangata Whenua, the indigenous people of New Zealand, Wairua is described as the non-physical spirit of a person which exists beyond death. It represents the life essence of every human being.
On the content level, this EP represents an exciting musical journey, exploring the deep mythology of the Māori. Here, topics were deliberately chosen that can also be transferred to today's challenges of modern societies. In addition, all tracks are related to each other in terms of content.
As on the previous EP, WAIRUA contains spherical melodic death metal tracks that occasionally make use of elements from black metal and death doom.

Drawing comparisons to old Cannibal Corpse, Condemned, Defeated Sanity, Mortician and others, VULNIFICUS signed a deal with New Standard Elite and shortly released their debut single "Induced Rampage". After the overwhelming feedback of "INNOMINATION", VULNIFICUS began to record the follow up to their debut EP the very next month, titled "INVOCATION". Completed at Demolition Studios again, VULNIFICUS blast, grind and shred their way with 5 tracks of audio devastation blending influences from the past and present. Scheduled to release June 2022.

Self Imposed Exile are a band from Illinois that plays a progressive mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their self released 20220 ep "Mountainside".
Clean playing starts off the ep while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. At times the music also gets very progressive sounding while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
The vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while death metal growls and clear singing can also be heard at times. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the riffs also adding in a lot of melody and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly.
Self Imposed Exile plays a musical style that takes progressive black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover mental illness, uprising against the Nephilim and spirit possession themes.
In my opinion Self Imposed Exile are a very great sounding progressive mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Anchor" and "Fire Cleansed". 8 out of 10. - Occultblackmetalzine

Short Bio: starting out as as three-piece band in 2010 the writing began for the project. Guitarists Nick Moreno and Mark Garcia as well as drummer James "Frank" lenore began the creative process of the songs and in 2014 bassist Dave Demoss joined to fill in the rhythm section in 2019 vocalist Tristan Kostman joined to write and lay down vocal tracks for the 2020 " Mountainside " EP release. In January of 2021 Self Imposed Exile was signed to Ragebreed Records and also added Cassandra Wright on keys to fill the last spot in the lineup. In January of 2022 SIE parted ways with Ragebreed and are continuing to play shows and write as an independent band.

Lunar Woods are a band which are difficult to box up as the Russian band contains elements of stoner and grunge, but also progressive metal, appealing to fans of both Mida and Saturn Split, but more importantly Alice in Chains. The band themselves are self-confessed Alice in Chains fans and this comes through in their music as well other 90’s sounds which gives ‘Pain No More’ an authentic and veracious sound.
‘Pain No More’ does also carry a Conventional rock sound, but there is an electricity powering throughout the album making sure that it never runs out of steam. This album is a whopper, at just over an hour, each song is an anthem of melody, chord and cadence with a progressive mix whilst being both technically and emotionally spot on with the guitars showing their skill and commitment to the craft.
Building from a small intro, ‘Pain No More’ is then straight to it, no messing around; each beat and word perfectly placed to create a disjointed sound of bone and steel with ‘Break The Ice’ being a perfect example of this. Furthermore, the title track is a hidden gem, cushioned away in the middle of the album, it is like a highly polished pumice stone soothing and grating in equal measure.
Finally, ‘Pain No More’ ends on a weird, peculiar note that leaves you wanting more and that is exactly how to fully describe this album. - Metal Digest

In the summer of 2006, Paul Di'Anno was asked if he would like to perform with his German band Phantoms Of The Opera at a city festival in the small Westphalian town of Waltrop - at that time, also with Fury In the Slaughterhouse and Sydney Youngblood. After initial skepticism about how to get the expected pop and disco fans, they decided to play the gig, especially since the two Re-Vision musicians, bassist Gonzo and drummer Dom, who formed the rhythm foundation of the Phantoms, had a home game.
And that skepticism vanished and suddenly turned into pure magic at the moment the band entered the stage. The city festival crowd mutated into an enthusiastic metal crowd, celebrating Paul and his boys through their brilliant gig.
The show was also completely recorded by producer and FOH man Thomas Mergler. At home, however, he found that the recordings were unusable due to an error by the monitor crew.
After more than 12 years, Thomas found the tapes again by chance. And he managed to save the old recordings with the help of more modern technical possibilities.
Now being released as Hell Over Walltrop - Live in Germany, the result is 100% kick-ass rock without tricks and overdubs. The band presents itself in top form and serves the audience various classics from Iron Maiden's early phase and from the solo career of Paul Di'Anno.

Conceived by members Nero and Maestus in 2017, Sinnrs first launched onto the extreme-metal scene with the release of their debut album 'Profound' in 2019, a merging of furious brutality and extreme metal, with the elegance of classical and opera, giving listeners a dimensional musical experience in pure dark matter, and the works of their second album DETRAHAMUS, are equally as profound. The juxtaposition of punishing guitar riffs and relentless blastbeats with symphonic arrangements and soaring vocals is fascinating in the way it highlights the inherent differences and similarities these genres have.
While classical fans might balk at the savagery of Sinnrs' sound, metal enthusiasts will enjoy getting swept up in the epicness the classical elements bring to the table. Later, in March 2018, a new EP, titled “Undercover I”, was released for the same label: the EP include some covers and an unreleased track.
In April 2022 the second album “Unlock Your Freedom” will be published for the label “Missleader Records”, together with the official video “I loved you, I killed you”

BAND BACK STORY AND QUOTES:
Tommy and Lane have been writing together for over 3 years. They toured and met each other while Tommy was lead guitarist of (FLAW) and Worldwide Panic were the support act.
It all started when Tommy approached Lane in Woodstock, IL and asked him " Do you have any eyeliner " to which Lane responded, " What about me says I wear makeup? ". The two had a laugh and Lane directed Tommy to his merch girl who gave him the makeup. Later during the tour Tommy approached Lane and said, " I want to write a song with you ". Over the following weeks after the tour riffs showed up in Lane's inbox and that song ended up being, "Never Go Back " which is one of the more popular Worldwide Panic songs. During a recent trip to Arizona to do some writing and recording with Tommy. Tommy approached Lane and said, "I truly believe in this band, and I would like to join". The stars have aligned and the two have become a team. Tommy has the following to say about joining Worldwide Panic, " It feels good to finally work with someone at my level of skill and professionalism. As well it feels great to work with someone who pushes me to be better. I look forward to future recordings as well as tours!! ".
Lane has this to say about the union. " It has been a longtime coming. I think we both knew for a while that this was the best option for our personal and professional lives to officially become a team. It took certain events happening as well as trials and tribulations to make this work make no mistake. However, it is now all worth it knowing that there is a bright future in store for this band. All members, not only us two are heavily invested into making this band thrive and succeed. I give my word to our listeners and fans that we will not disappoint. Worldwide Panic is a hard rock/heavy metal band based in Los Angeles. It was formed in 2016 with the aim of writing heavy, music with catchy hooks and personal, meaningful lyrics. Giving a relatable take on everyday life, the songwriting approach focuses on a mix of clean and aggressive vocals and a guitar-driven sound.
At a live show Worldwide Panic brings a unique theatrical experience, packed with energy and excitement! The band has toured with Flaw , Smile Empty Soul, Hellzapoppin and also did a large-scale tour with Mushroomhead since its formation. WP also did a direct support tour with the Convalesce . Worldwide Panic has completed work on an eponymous LP, Mastered by Zues ( Chimaira, Hatebreed, Rob Zombie )! They have released the new single " ITried " with accompanying music video on 2/18/22 and will continue to release new singles through-out 2022!
