Markus Spittka Wins band Of The Month January 2021! Totally annihilating the polls with a total of 58,064 votes! Markus Spittka is a Musician and multi-instrumentalist from Venlo, The Netherlands. He started at the age of 15 to play guitar and bass. Together with his brother and a good friend of him who played the guitar, he formed his first band called Misty Blue, later The New Misty Blue. The band played a lot on local festivals and band competitions. One of their highlights was to win ´The Rising Star´ Festival in the 90´s who gave the band the opportunity to record their first demo ´Day by Day´.  Markus was also chosen during a musician competition as best bass player in Limburg due to the striking bass guitar playing tapping and slapping techniques. As the band became more and more progressive and there was less room for vocals, the band decided to continue as an instrumental band and the singer left. After there was a change in band members and a second guitarist joined, the band changed their name to Harapan (Hope). Harapan recorded their demo called ´The beginning of Time´ and the band was again playing on many festivals. After one of the guitarists suffered from health problems and Markus decided to choose other priorities with a new musical interpretation in the contemporary gospel scene, Markus left Harapan. Markus recorded together with his wife Khadija the EP ´I Wanna Hear Your voice´. The song ´There´s is no one else like You´ was well received in the Christian world and got a place in the Dutch largest choir catalog called ´European Choral Club´ by publisher Small Stone Media. Markus immersed himself more in piano playing and composing praise and worship music. Still it was a wish of Markus to record an instrumental guitar rock album but less progressive but more melodic. Last year Markus picked up his guitar again and with all his passion and inspiration he recorded 10 tracks. He composed and played all the instruments on the record "God is Love". Check it out here at this link: http://www.allaroundmetal.com/component/content/article/26-releases/8074-un-po-troppo-ispirato-agli-insomnium-il-quarto-album-dei-dormanth Between inspiration and mere emulation there is a very fine, sometimes imperceptible line. We often find ourselves in front of bands that are qualitatively and technically valid but which, alas, make you exclaim "but I've heard that already!". And this, of course, brings with it the unwelcome effect of relegating the group in question among the tide of many other realities present that are attested to political sufficiency and nothing more. Here, this, unfortunately, is the feeling I had when listening to "Complete Downfall", the fourth album by the Spanish Dormanth, who reach their twenty-seventh year of life - with a break from 1995 to 2016 - promoting what, on balance , turns out to be an excellent melodic death played to profession but which, as I said above, too similar to the sound of the much more important and famous Insomnium. Beyond what is the technical and qualitative apparatus, in my opinion perfect, the real sore point of this record is the all too explicit reference to the aforementioned Finns. The rest comes by itself, unfortunately. Therefore, if on the one hand the Spanish quartet is in great shape thanks to a well-crafted, enjoyable, pressing and not at all boring album, on the other hand I have to admit that all this is the result of a idea that certainly does not depend on them, or at least very little. I must surely recognize the splendid melodies and rhythms that create that death / doom atmosphere at Paradise Lost: these have literally bewitched me and I could not help but listen to some very expressive passages over and over again. However, this turned out to be a flash in the pan, because the excessive reference to the sounds of Insomnium is always around the corner and does not allow me to judge ours for what they are. But so be it; I cannot fail to point out this all too strong reference which, as I said at the beginning, has crossed the line between inspiration and emulation. Unfortunately the needle of the balance hangs more on the latter. If I were to judge Dormanth's fourth album from a technical point of view I would bow. But I would have a lot to say on the originality side, the real sore point - even the voice closely resembles that of Niilo Sevänen-. My advice is to look for a more personal way, listening again and trying to understand where to put a stop and where, on the contrary, to push. We often find ourselves in front of bands that are qualitatively and technically valid but which, alas, make you exclaim "but I've heard that already!". And this, of course, brings with it the unwelcome effect of relegating the group in question among the tide of many other realities present that are attested to political sufficiency and nothing more. Here, this, unfortunately, is the feeling I had when listening to "Complete Downfall", the fourth album by the Spanish Dormanth, who reach their twenty-seventh year of life - with a break from 1995 to 2016 - promoting what, on balance , turns out to be an excellent melodic death played to profession but which, as I said above, too similar to the sound of the much more important and famous Insomnium. Beyond what is the technical and qualitative apparatus, in my opinion perfect, the real sore point of this record is the all too explicit reference to the aforementioned Finns. The rest comes by itself, unfortunately. Therefore, if on the one hand the Spanish quartet is in great shape thanks to a well-crafted, enjoyable, pressing and not at all boring album, on the other hand I have to admit that all this is the result of a idea that certainly does not depend on them, or at least very little. I must surely recognize the splendid melodies and rhythms that create that death / doom atmosphere at Paradise Lost: these have literally bewitched me and I could not help but listen to some very expressive passages over and over again. However, this turned out to be a flash in the pan, because the excessive reference to the sounds of Insomnium is always around the corner and does not allow me to judge ours for what they are. But so be it; I cannot fail to point out this all too strong reference which, as I said at the beginning, has crossed the line between inspiration and emulation. Unfortunately the needle of the balance hangs more on the latter. If I were to judge Dormanth's fourth album from a technical point of view I would bow. But I would have a lot to say on the originality side, the real sore point - even the voice closely resembles that of Niilo Sevänen-. My advice is to look for a more personal way, listening again and trying to understand where to put a stop and where, on the contrary, to push. The band was officially formed August 1, 2019 when guitarist/vocalist Jeremy Amack and drummer Shawn Hill held their first practice. A few months later the duo was playing their first show. And this, of course, brings with it the unwelcome effect of relegating the group in question among the tide of many other realities present that are attested to political sufficiency and nothing more. Here, this, unfortunately, is the feeling I had when listening to "Complete Downfall", the fourth album by the Spanish Dormanth, who reach their twenty-seventh year of life - with a break from 1995 to 2016 - promoting what, on balance , turns out to be an excellent melodic death played to profession but which, as I said above, too similar to the sound of the much more important and famous Insomnium. Beyond what is the technical and qualitative apparatus, in my opinion perfect, the real sore point of this record is the all too explicit reference to the aforementioned Finns. The rest comes by itself, unfortunately. Therefore, if on the one hand the Spanish quartet is in great shape thanks to a well-crafted, enjoyable, pressing and not at all boring album, on the other hand I have to admit that all this is the result of a idea that certainly does not depend on them, or at least very little. I must surely recognize the splendid melodies and rhythms that create that death / doom atmosphere at Paradise Lost: these have literally bewitched me and I could not help but listen to some very expressive passages over and over again. However, this turned out to be a flash in the pan, because the excessive reference to the sounds of Insomnium is always around the corner and does not allow me to judge ours for what they are. But so be it; I cannot fail to point out this all too strong reference which, as I said at the beginning, has crossed the line between inspiration and emulation. Unfortunately the needle of the balance hangs more on the latter. If I were to judge Dormanth's fourth album from a technical point of view I would bow. But I would have a lot to say on the originality side, the real sore point - even the voice closely resembles that of Niilo Sevänen-. My advice is to look for a more personal way, listening again and trying to understand where to put a stop and where, on the contrary, to push. To extract the dirtiest side of their souls and present it as an audio insult. After playing some gigs during 2012 – 2013, they took the request of their fans for an official release seriously! Consequently they hit the studio to create their self titled debut. The recording process started in early 2014. George Emmanuel engineered the album and Jeffro Lackscheide mixed and mastered it. In November 2014 the first single “The nymph and the god” was featured in the compilation CD Fear Candy, that comes with Terrorizer magazine (Issue 254). Legendary metal bands Exodus and Obituary were also in this CD. They released “Motherfaster” on February 24, 2015. In the summer of 2016, they covered Impaled Nazarene’s magnum opus “Blood is thicker than water”. Then, the time came for the successor. Entitled “Slower Father”, it was recorded at Pentagram studio and mixing/mastering duties were handled by George Emmanuel. Nine explicit, dirty stories gilded with a mix of heavy metal – hard rock music. The second album is taking their signature sound one step further. Ruder, dirtier, heavier. Motherfaster released “Slower Father” on December 2, 2019. On January 25, 2020 they opened the Athenian show of metal pioneers Rotting Christ. A well accepted goal, given that their very multifaceted style is not only original but also courageous and effective: if in fact the shores of death metal with a growl voice are the prevailing ones, the songs on this album are full of different nuances, of changes of tempo, of quiet parts with guitar and stop and go arpeggios, recalling on the whole the first Opeths . The opening Conquering is a short introductory track that, with instrumental tones, creates a dark atmosphere to introduce Invisible Mind Workers , in which strong vibrations of influence rise In Flames and Cradle of Filth but with a decidedly progressive imprint. The track is extremely heavy and it really never gives up. Chucao keeps the heaviness at full speed, with a section of the track plunging into a calm setting before retracing his steps with fantastic guitar work and clean singing. Powerful and disarming, in The Flame (especially in the first part) touch the Mastodonin terms of violence (impact riffing) and leave no survivors leading the listener to a final part from the death mold. At the same time, the instrumental openings in Laps of Insanity open to many different territories, not least the avantgarde (and the specter of Mikael Åkerfeldt appears again ), resulting chaotic, but at the same time more orderly than the previous tracks. Lamentos , on the other hand, is softer and more ballad-like, while Eleven Ravens returns to the solid sound we have become accustomed to, hard, heavy and pogo-inducing, with an incredible guitar solo. Lurking Hopewill be a fan favorite in no time. The track just needs to be heard to believe it. Two Tears Alone features a sound that is richer with melody, brutality and riffs galore. Finally, the album ends with Deep Cycle , an outro loaded with synths that characterize the dark ambient soul of the song. The album overall is good enough and deep enough for metal fans to find something they like. In some pieces the final effect changes and perhaps the compositions become even too intricate so much that they lengthen the perceived duration of the piece. The Weight of Emptiness is a band that does not make up a pattern for the case, but everything is studied and proven in detail. The production in general is good but not excellent, the sounds in such a multifaceted proposal have their own identity even if with more attention behind the mixer they could have taken on a stronger personality. In any case, for lovers of extreme music but thirsty for variations and technique Conquering the Deep Cycle is a little gem. Super recommended. - Heavy Metal Heaven webzine Weight Of Emptiness is a Chilean band of metal which practice a mixture style in which can be distinguished progressive, death, doom, and black metal. The band has its origins in 2012, when the former members from the missing band Twilight Mist, Juan Acevedo and Alejandro Bravo on guitars and Alejandro Ruiz on vocals, started to make their first compositions. On Twilight Mist they had a career path of almost 10 years, innovating on progressive metal trends, so decided continuing the legacy, adding actual elements to their music. The first formation was completed with bassist David Hernández and Mauricio Basso on drums, leader of Letargo band, with almost 25 years of career, both incorporating a rhythmic base full of progressive elements, which give Weight Of Emptiness the characteristic and avant-garde sound recognized into the Chilean metal scene. Between August and September of 2016, they started recording their musical material for what will be their debut album. The drums are recorded at Alba Road studios by Eduardo Demangel and the rest in The Farm. The mixing and mastering is done by Richard Iturra. At the end of the recording process, David Hernández left the band, so they recruited the bassist Manuel Villarroel. On March 4, 2017 they independently released the first LP called “Anfractuous Moments For Redemption”, which is digitally edited worldwide thanks to the British label Sepulchral Silence on more than 14 streaming platforms. SACRIFIX finishes mixing debut album "World Decay 19"! - @thebeast

After six long months of hard work, the debut album of SACRIFIX thrashers from São Paulo , "World Decay 19" , had its mix finished by experienced producer Marco Nunes (Chaosfear, ex-Goatlove) , which has already produced bands such as Genocide, Goatlove, Chaosfear, Dungeon, among others. With all the instruments and vocals recorded by the multi-instrumentalist, leader, founder and producer Frank Gasparotto (ex-Anthares, ex-Infamous Glory, ex-Goatlove, current Spiritual Hate and Masmorra), at North Greenhouse Studios , in São Paulo / SP , "World Decay 19" will contain seven tracks from the purest, visceral, raw and old school Thrash Metal, with lyrics in English and covering themes characteristic of the style (war, occultism, social criticism, existential issues and violence). The cover art, which will faithfully represent all this chaotic theme, will be in charge of the illustrator Márcio Aranha ( @ marcioaranha83 ), who has already done works for bands like Warsickness, Infector Cell, the cover of the South American tribute to Exodus, "Bonded By Thrash "and the Scourge / Axecuter split," Headbangers After Life ". "As I had already worked with Marco Nunes on several other projects, the choice for him was obvious. He is a big fan of Thrash Metal Old School and knew exactly what to do with the Sacrifix sound. It took six months to conceive the work , with composition, pre-production, recording, production, mixing and mastering. With Marco's experience, I was sure I would achieve that sound based entirely on traditional Thrash Metal, with a lot of influence from the first albums of bands like Megadeth, Annihilator, Slayer, Sodom and Kreator! December 2020. The “band” or project if you will since it’s not been a full band in the last 10 years or more, has played concerts, festivals and toured in the following countries Norway, Sweden, UK & Scotland, USA and Spain. The band was founded by Thomas Chr. Hansen back in 1992 and he is the only original member left. Throughout the years the band changed music style, name and members several times, only to finally back in 2001 land on the style that he still plays today. The band goes under the Power Metal genre but according Hansen himself he calls it just Melodic Metal. (with elements of power, speed, thrash and prog) After being ripped off by the first label who released their two first albums, Hansen then decided to form his own label. Epicus Records is the name of his label and he has released five Gaia Epicus albums pluss re-issued the first two. As it stands Hansen has been offered deals on other labels but turned it down, but he is looking to strike a deal with a bigger label so if anyone interested please get in touch with him. A well accepted goal, given that their very multifaceted style is not only original but also courageous and effective: if in fact the shores of death metal with a growl voice are the prevailing ones, the songs on this album are full of different nuances, of changes of tempo, of quiet parts with guitar and stop and go arpeggios, recalling on the whole the first Opeths . The opening Conquering is a short introductory track that, with instrumental tones, creates a dark atmosphere to introduce Invisible Mind Workers , in which strong vibrations of influence rise In Flames and Cradle of Filth but with a decidedly progressive imprint. The track is extremely heavy and it really never gives up. Chucao keeps the heaviness at full speed, with a section of the track plunging into a calm setting before retracing his steps with fantastic guitar work and clean singing. Powerful and disarming, in The Flame (especially in the first part) touch the Mastodonin terms of violence (impact riffing) and leave no survivors leading the listener to a final part from the death mold. At the same time, the instrumental openings in Laps of Insanity open to many different territories, not least the avantgarde (and the specter of Mikael Åkerfeldt appears again ), resulting chaotic, but at the same time more orderly than the previous tracks. Lamentos , on the other hand, is softer and more ballad-like, while Eleven Ravens returns to the solid sound we have become accustomed to, hard, heavy and pogo-inducing, with an incredible guitar solo. Lurking Hopewill be a fan favorite in no time. The track just needs to be heard to believe it. Two Tears Alone features a sound that is richer with melody, brutality and riffs galore. Finally, the album ends with Deep Cycle , an outro loaded with synths that characterize the dark ambient soul of the song. The album overall is good enough and deep enough for metal fans to find something they like. In some pieces the final effect changes and perhaps the compositions become even too intricate so much that they lengthen the perceived duration of the piece. The Weight of Emptiness is a band that does not make up a pattern for the case, but everything is studied and proven in detail. The production in general is good but not excellent, the sounds in such a multifaceted proposal have their own identity even if with more attention behind the mixer they could have taken on a stronger personality. In any case, for lovers of extreme music but thirsty for variations and technique Conquering the Deep Cycle is a little gem. Super recommended. - Heavy Metal Heaven webzine Weight Of Emptiness is a Chilean band of metal which practice a mixture style in which can be distinguished progressive, death, doom, and black metal. The band has its origins in 2012, when the former members from the missing band Twilight Mist, Juan Acevedo and Alejandro Bravo on guitars and Alejandro Ruiz on vocals, started to make their first compositions. On Twilight Mist they had a career path of almost 10 years, innovating on progressive metal trends, so decided continuing the legacy, adding actual elements to their music. The first formation was completed with bassist David Hernández and Mauricio Basso on drums, leader of Letargo band, with almost 25 years of career, both incorporating a rhythmic base full of progressive elements, which give Weight Of Emptiness the characteristic and avant-garde sound recognized into the Chilean metal scene. Between August and September of 2016, they started recording their musical material for what will be their debut album. The drums are recorded at Alba Road studios by Eduardo Demangel and the rest in The Farm. The mixing and mastering is done by Richard Iturra. At the end of the recording process, David Hernández left the band, so they recruited the bassist Manuel Villarroel. On March 4, 2017 they independently released the first LP called “Anfractuous Moments For Redemption”, which is digitally edited worldwide thanks to the British label Sepulchral Silence on more than 14 streaming platforms. In physical format it is edited independently in digipack format.  As part of the promotion plan for the new album, in May 2017 a Concert Live Video is released at Bar Óxido (October 2016) and on October 20, 2017 is released the video clip for the song "Behind The Masks". Between October 27 and November 4, 2017 the band performs its first international tour in 6 cities in Mexico. In addition to the shows in Mexico, the band performs in different stages throughout Chile.  The album “Anfractuous Moments For Redemption” is highlighted by the Humo Negro site among the best Chilean albums of 2017. In addition, the album is included in the “The 12 Best Chilean Metal Albums 2017” Ranking of The Resistance webzine and in the “Top 320 Latin Albums of 2017” from Headbangers Latin America webzine. On March 16, 2018 the band releases their second video clip of the song "The Silence". On March 22, 2018 the album "Anfractuous Moments For Redemption" is re-released in Mexico in a co-production with the labels Concreto Records and Sun Empire Productions. The album "Anfractuous Moments For Redemption" is nominated for the 2018 Escuchar Awards in the Best Extreme Metal Disco category. On November 17, 2018 the band releases its third video clip of the song "Unbreakable". The bassist Manuel Villarroel leaves the band and in his replacement comes the former bassist of the progressive metal band Tremates, Mario Urra, whose debut is made when the band first visits Argentina in the framework of the 2018 Lado Salvaje Festival of the city of Mendoza, subsequently editing a Live Video with the full show.  On August 31, 2019 the band released their second studio album called "Conquering The Deep Cycle." The album was recorded at The Farm and Audio Custom Studios, and was mixed and mastered again by Richard Iturra. The album is published under the label Australis Records with international distribution. On August 16, 2019 the video clip of the song “The Flame” was released, which is the first single from the new album. In September 2019, the band made its first tour of Europe in several cities in Spain, Romania and Bulgaria, achieving a very good reception from the public of the old continent. In November 2019, the band toured Argentina that included Buenos Aires, the La Campana del Infierno festival near Rosario and the Criminal Metal Camp festival near Córdoba to promote the new album.
